Pop Up & Hub Ground Blinds Use in Open Badlands

When hunting coyote in NW & Central Wyoming it can be difficult to find a stand with cover or stay in shadows for concealment. I'm looking at ground blinds to help in this matter. (Also for turkey & antelope)
Has anyone invested in a good ground blind that is XL for 2, easy to setup and can withstand front range winds??? I ATV right from home so weight isn't a big issue. I call but don't run & gun. Some sets will be over known sign in territory.
THANKS IN ADVANCE.

My brother and I have used a ground blind for hunting deer. As I recall it is a Primos Ground Max blind. Not expensive. Sets up quickly and has plenty of room for two. My brother and I are 6'2" and 6'1" respectively and can stand up in the blind.

Front range winds? That is a tough question. In our use, we can set it up for weeks at a time in a sheltered area. The blind we have has both tent stakes for the frame and rope tie-downs. Still, I have been across WY in a semi and there is nothing like a WY wind.

In the end, my brother is more fond of the blind. The man has the patience of a stone! I find it a comfortable place to sit and wait as best I can. Especially during muzzleloader season when it can be heated like an ice fishing house.

What are your rules for leaving a blind on public lands for a few days? I would think a blind that suddenly appears where there is no other cover to break it up will attract negative attention from any game.

For coyotes how about a ghillie suit and a mat to lay on?

For speedgoats how about a home made one of wood on a sled that you can pull into place with the atv a few days before the season? Probably your best bet for withstanding the wind.

I used a popup blind in 09 on a pronghorn hunt right out in the wide open. (Nevada) The pronghorns walked right by it and didn't pay any attention to it. Big enough for 2 people.
Just toss it out and it opens up. Put in the tent poles(2) and stake it down. Easy to set up and take down. Fits in a flat pack about the size of a atv tire about 3-4 inches thick. Has 3 windows and a door and camo mesh in the windows. Got it at Scheels for 85$ I believe. I would have to dig it out to let you know exactly the model.

Hope this helps,

Tony

I bought a blind for all kinds of hunting a couple years ago (mostly archery deer and antelope) and after using it one day...its been in the bag ever since. I enjoy spot and stalk way to much to limit myself to one spot.

I set up a smaller lighter 180* blind instead. 4 tent stakes that are about 36" long, that collapse down to about 12" when folded. I hang camo netting (the old [beeep] military stuff) either tan or white and stuff in whatever grass or branches I can find.

I set it up in a cone shape and sit behind it. the only spot to get busted is from down wind. Total weight is about 2-3 lbs.

Good question SHOES. Most of BLM I hunt is leased grazing and the ranchers only care about not shooting the steer. In some cases they prefer shotgun only. BLM office told me no permanent structures.

I've only used it 1 time. If you are going to use it frequently, I would get some GOOD tent stakes for it (4). The ones that come with it are the cheap alluminum ones. Also, when you put the stakes in the ground, put a good sized rock on top of the stakes for a little insurance. That is what I did. It really is a neat little blind and won't break the bank. As far as noise, Well, noise is noise. I will try to post a pic of mine all set up and PM it to you.

Watching some Outdoor TV, I saw an ad for the GhostBlind. Seems interesting. No personal experience with it. They claim that it is designed to blow in the wind and should not distract game.....

Take a look at Double Bull blinds. I've shot elk, deer and antelope out of mine. Pick up some good metal tent stakes for use out in the open. Mine has been through several storms using 8 stakes.
