pop ups and trash

anyone else noticed all the pop up ads lately? and what is with all the orange underlined words?
anyhow, any suggestions on a good pop up blocker? im running firefox and the blocker it comes with doesnt seem to be working.

I had the same thing on this machine so I finally called out my computer geek. All it took was a few clicks on his part along with a few mumbled "let's get rid of this and this and that"

Problem solved

I have no idea how or what he did.
 
with firefox, use the adblock plus extension.

it also doesn't hurt to run malwarebytes once a month or so.

the free version is pretty good at finding stuff & getting rid of it. you have to manually run it, this is not real-time protection.
