Possible to rebarrel Ruger M77 tang style safety

I'm considering the purchase of an older Ruger M77 in 22-250.

I've always heard that 22-250 can be shot out and don't wannna drop money and have a paperweight that wont shoot.

So can it be rebarrel reasonably?

If you get one that is falling off on accuracey you can have an inch or two taken off the end and a recrown done. Does help and is cheaper than a rebarrel.

Had a 270 Ruger tang safety rebarreled to 7x57 mauser with a Midway A&B (now Green Mountain brand) F54 heavy contour 7mm barrel blank, maybe 3 years ago. Used a retired machinist who's done gunsmithing on the side for over 30 years to do work. Recall day I dropped off the rifle and barrel and asked him if he'd have any problems rebarreling the Ruger. Look on his face at my question told me he was insulted by it...."no", he replied. He wasn't too happy when I told him it was an A&B barrel as he'd had a bad experience with one years before. I'd already used the A&B barrels before on a couple of other rifles that turned out to be decent shooters, so convinced him to use it.

Well, the Ruger turned out to be one of my most accurate rifles. Total cost of the barrel, installation and chambering was around $170.

You might want to visit website of Mark Skaggs, a gunsmith in Oregon. Just google Mark Skaggs, you should find him. His site will list prices for his work.

Not new with a custom barrel! That $500 would about cover a barrel from a reputable maker, shipping, and the gunsmith's time, tools, and overhead on fitting and chambering it.

I had the exact gun you speek of done by bullberry barrel works. Its been a while, but I believe it cost 600.00-650.00 for the labor & the wilson barrel that was installed.
