Hey all I just got a new 220 swift in Remington VSF and am looking for some good loads for it I have 50gr Vmax and Ballistic tip as well as 40gr siera BK and 52gr speer hp. powders I have H380 IMR 4064 4350 any help would be appreciated !! Thx in advance for any help !!

First of all, congrats on the new 220 Swift. I absolutley love mine and it's the only caliber I vow to always have in my stable of firearms.

That being said, I have a Remington Model 700 Classic that loves 44.0 Grains of IMR 4831 and 55gr Nosler BT. Consistently goes into .5 to .65 inch groups.

IMR 4831 is a little slow for the small volume Swift case but, my gun loves it.

You fool! You will be hooked for life! Another Swift owner? You are toast my friend! Just like I have been for some 34 years now!

Lots of different Swift load I have tried over the years. I still like 35 grains of IMR 3031 with a good 55 grain bullet. Not max, but easy to shoot and accurate. Easy on the brass too.

My current Swift likes a 40 grain Vmax or Ballistic Tip pushed along by 43 grains of H414. Turns prairie dogs into atoms. Little bitty atoms.

Both loads are WAY under an inch. There are lots of .220 Swift loads out there given how long the round has been with us. I have no doubt you will find one that your gun really likes.

But even if it didn't, you are still toast.

Thx so far all! I have always had a interest in 220swift yet all the bad things said about brass stretching barrel burning etc etc stopped me from making the jump.
Then when I learned more from actual shooters of it I decded to make the leap. At that point all the 22-250 owners where goin why waste yer time on a swift buy the 250 instead.
I figured if I was gonna get a coyote stomper may as well buy the king and a piece of varmint rifle history !

I shoot 55gr NBTs over VV N540 very quickly. My gun seems to like the hot loads and keeps these under .5 at 100 yds pretty consistently.

My first try would be with a 50g Nosler BT, load started at 43.5,44.0, and 44.5g of AA2700, velocity is 4000 with very tiny groups...like three shots in a hole.

so far in testing I have done the load my gun likes is 38gr of IMR 4064 with 50gr V-max and cci LR benchrest primer new winchester brass neck sized . Is this still considered a moderate load of 4064? Book says max of 38.4gr but seeing quite a few loading it a lot hotter than this.

I use the sierra 52 gr. HPBT Match, Hornady neck sized brass, CCI200 primers. Seated .020" off the lands.(2.72"OAL) 38gr. RL15 gives me 3790 fps, with a ES of 7 and SD of 3! Also 44.5gr. N160 3750 fps, ES 14, SD 7.5. Both group just under 1/2" at 112 yds. (our range 100yd. is not actually 100). This is in a Ruger M77 Target, nothing done to it. The 52gr. bullet is great for saving pelts as well. Usually never exits, if it does, quarter to dollar size hole. Very rarely bows a big hole, but can if you hit high through the ribs.

i have a remington vssfII in 220 swift. best load i have come up with is 37 grains of reloader 15 powder,50 grain nosler bal tip,win.case,cci200 primers and i can clover leaf 3 shot strings all day.

Well so far top load has been 40gr Blitzking with 37.5 gr 4064 nice group all 3 touching at 100. Runner up is 55gr Blitzking with 38gr of 4064 nice cloverleaf group not touching but very close. Have yet to find a 50gr powder bullet combo yet I am happy with but not giving up easy on it :p 55gr should be good long range yote slyer but been stubborn I wanna find that 50gr magic load LOL. Also have some 40gr bergers yet to experiment with will post results when I do thx for the help all !
