with a catch, would also like the powder to perform well in 357 mag, 357 sig and possibly 9mm. The 9mm isnt that important. If there is a powder that is just amazing in 44 that doesnt work well with theother feel free to list it as im not complete opposed to stocking poweder for just 44 mag, would just be nice to buy in bulk of there is a good all around powder for all 3.

If you're looking for full-house loads for 44 mag, it's hard to beat H110/Win 296 or Alliant 2400. I really like the 2400 under lighter bullets in the 44 mag, and switch to 296 for 240gr or heavier. For max loads in 357 mag, the 2400 is super as well (just use a standard primer with this powder, though!). Blue Dot is another good 357 mag powder (again with a standard primer). The auto cartridges prefer a faster powder, and I think you'd find Power Pistol a great match for the 357 Sig and the 9mm.

Having said all that, if you're OK with a little less velocity out of the magnums, but still can get to 1100 fps + on the 240gr out of the 44 mag, then take a look at Unique. I use it in everything from 380 ACP, 9mm, 45 ACP, 38 Spcl, 357 mag, and 44 mag. It bulks up nicely, leaving no possibility of a double charge, and the new stuff burns MUCH cleaner than the old Unique did. It's easy to work with, but doesn't meter as well as some other powders do.

Have fun, and safe shooting,
Brian

+1 on the 2400. Good stuff. Works great in 44 and 357. My ol man runs max loads thru his 357 with 158 gr bullets out of a 10" contender and gets pass thrus every time. I loaded some 180 gr hornady XTP's for my 9 yr old with the 2400. It was a base load of 21gr. Light recoil and killed a doe at 90 yds and a buck at 50. Still had great velocity out to 100.

Thanks for the tip. I currently use Power Pistol for 9mm and 357 Sig. I was thinking about trying AA9 for 357 Sig and figured the 44 might like that as well. I also use 2400 for my 357 mag so maybe I can just use that under the 44.

I Like H110 so far for jacketed bullets thus far," The flame coming out of the barrel looks great at twilight"

but Im using Unique for the cast bullets. Have seen no signs of leading with Unique.

I use blue dot for the .44mag and 45ACP ...but the best powder I have found for the .44mag is H110 and I will be sticking to that for my full house loads and Unique for my reduced loads!
are you running this in a handgun or in a rifle?
I am shooting an 1894SS Marlin and with iron sights I was taking g-hogs out to 250 yards with hard cast 265gr bullets!

hope this helps you!

H110 and Win 296 are almost the same powder, use Winchester brass and Winchester mag primers and you will be VERY happy with the accuracy. I shot 26.0g with the 180g Sierra HP and 22.6g-23.6 with the 240g sierra HP.

2400 leaves a lot of unburnt powder in the barrel and cylinder.

Funny, I use H110/296 in my .357 loads and as a creature of habit i use 2400 in my .44. After this post I'll look at the reloading data in the H110/296 for my .44. Would like just one pistol powder. thanks you guys got me thinking.

H110 is pretty hard to beat for full power loads, I find I shoot more unique and cast bullets in mine as we don't really need full power in this area.
