powder to fill .22-250 case

Literally, IMR4064 and Varget have about identical burn rates. I've heard & read where Varget is supposedly "more temperature sensitive", but like Jack mentioned earlier, "all powders are", and I haven't seen a big difference with Varget in varying temp. extremes.

Of the stick powders, prior to Varget, I'd have said that 4064 was the most used IMR powder in it. In my experience, it's been probably the most accurate powder, bar none. The only problems have been low velocity readings with it.

Don't get me wrong.....4895 is very good, just not "as good" with the current gun/load setup, that I'm currently using.
I've had an 8# keg of H414 (Military Surplus) for damn close to 15yrs, give or take. I've tried various loads out of it from time to time, but it hadn't shown a whole lot of promise with the past combinations I was using.
It was good, just not great.

Currently, using a 55gr VMax, over 43.0grs. of it, my Rem 700LSSF will stitch 10rnds into one nickel sized hole at 100yds. And for consistency, the load kept doing it for 3 complete groups. No fliers or nothing....man, was I happy.

And to think that it's been sitting around forever.

They say Chrono don't lie... They also say if vel is higher than normal, then pressure is too.... I duno. Case life is ok no pressure signs in either gun. Vel is 4110 with 50's and right at 3900 w/55's. This is in a standard 22-250, not an A.I.! Had this happen with one lot of H570 once. When it was gone so was vel---forever! Just wondering if this can is a fluke or if this stuff is magic!
