powder trickler

How many use a powder trickler? I use a plastic spoon to get the last little bit but I hate it when to much falls out of the spoon and goes overweight. The trickler just seem so small and would be hard to handle but I don't have one and that is why I am asking.

Before I got the rcbs chargemaster I use a trickler when I was doing load development or were using stick powders like IMR 4064 or 4831. Set my charge just under what I want and put it on my beam scale and trickle in what I need. I would set the trickler up on a die box so it would not bother the scale pan. I have not had to use it very much since I got the chargemaster. They are not that expensive to have one around.

I trickle every round to the proper weight. With my Blue dot 223 loads, I trickle the entire load since they are only 10 grains and it is a flake or disc looking powder that doesn't meter like ball powder. I bought my RCBS trickler at Walmart for less than $20. Good investment in my opinion if your weighing every charge to .1 grains.

After years of use, my RCBS won't wear out so I can try another one. It is some kind of cast metal. Me thinks it may never wear out at this rate

. For no more than they cost, I wouldn't bother with plastic.

My RCBS is metal and will never wear out, especially since I have a Hornady powder dispenser on the way. My RCBS works quite well and I use it all the time. I also tend to set my powder dispenser just a little lite and finish the load with the trickler. It was cheap and well worth the money.

This is a pic of my current scale/trickler setup on my bench. I really like trickling a few tenths up to my desired charge and feel that it goes pretty quick, also. I have switched to a RCBS 750 scale, as to try and speed things up some, and have modified my standard RCBS trickler some to work with the new scale. I raised my trickler to a desired height by glueing it to a pvc fitting that fit perfectly up underneath it! I then simply extended the tube by sliding a McDonald's straw over it and cut it to the length I wanted. It really works well for me, but I'm sure there are other ways it can be done! I really can't see ever wanting to switch to an electronic dispenser for the amount of loading I'm doing.

the hornady trickler works just fine and will last just as long as a RCBS as long as it is not abused. they only have one moving part on them so any of them will work fine

I also have an RCBS and it works great. Check out RCBS they have a new one Powder Trickler-2 looks to have all the extras on it.

I use a redding. That sucker is HEAVY! you would have to try to tip it. It's nice and tall too to not impede the scale pan. I like it alot.

A 5-0-5 beam scale and an RCBS trickler works just fine for me.
