PPU 22 Hornet ammo

Went to a gunshow kinda looking for a little better scope for the Hornet but nothing (used) that was better than what I had so struck out there. One dealer had a bunch of ammo and had several boxes of PPU 45 grain SP for the 22 Hornet. These are boxes of 50 rounds. I'm a little low on brass so worse case scenario is I'll get brass out of the deal. I bought 3 boxes of 50 for $100. I hope it shoots good but if it doesn't I still have the brass.

I looked on Midway and I guess I got a decent deal on the ammo. Reviews were good except one that said the bullet diameter is smaller than .224. It was .219 IIRC. Only way I know is shoot it and find out.

I bought a pile of that same ammunition for my Hornet. More for the brass than anything. It shoots well enough as is. I ran it in my Browning and in a Ruger that I used to own. For the price, it was a great way to pile up gophers and get some good, usable brass. If memory serves, I think I snagged about 2000 of them and I’ll be a long while yet before I wear out all that brass with hand loads.

It may turn out to be plinking ammo which is OK, I can use the brass. If it shoots really good, I'll catch him at the next show and buy some more. I did go back on Sunday and scored 80 pieces of new Sako 22PPC brass. He said he had some loaded ammo but didn't have it with him this week end. I'd like to try some factory stuff just to compare.
