Prairie Blaster II issues............

I recently upgraded my Foxpro call from a Firestorm to a Prairie Blaster II and its not off to a good start.

I did purchase this unit used from a friend, but I know this person, and the unit maybe has 1 or 2 hours total on it since new.

From day one I have had issues with the dial on the remote having a mind of its own. It will scroll in all sorts of directions when turning it one way, makes it a real pain to get to the call you are wanting.

I went to use it this weekend, and I was only able to get the call to work for 30 seconds at best, before it just wouldn't turn on anymore. I had recently purchased the rechargeable battery pack, so I thought maybe that was the issue, but after connecting the old replaceable battery back back in the unit I realized it was not. Now I can't even get it to turn on.

Has anybody else had issues like that with this unit??

I emailed Foxpro, and will get it sent in. But in the meantime I'm just curious if anybody else has had something similar happen, and what can I expect my repair bill to be.

Thanks.

I haven't had that issue and have a Prairie blaster.

It's worked great for 6 or 7 years. I don't buy their battery pack though (i know it's not the issue) but I measure and order off the internet for a SLA battery and then buy the connectors and soldier that connector to the battery, I also made a car charger so that when one is being used, the other is charging.
Online the batteries are under $20 each and Typically last 2 days on High power.

Don't sweat it, send it in and they will have it fixed and back in your hands fast, and working like a champ..

Now you just need to get a back pack to put that thing in.. I tried carrying it, and got Carpal tunnel. (it's a heavy call)

Good luck

Working with Foxpro to get it sent in today. I'm sure its a simple solve for them (hopefully a cheap one for me).

Glad you are happy with the call though. I think I will be too once I get it up and running correctly. And you are right, this thing is huge! I do have a back pack to carry it in though.

I'm not sure what remote the PB II has but I had an original Fury that needed a FoxPro exorcism. I don't remember exactly what they changed besides the scroll knob, but I never had any issues once they fixed it.

The PB II has the TX-505 remote, which is basically the same as the TX-500. I do recall that they had some issues with the TX-500 when the supply house furnished some tuners that had some kind of lubricant added that had not been on earlier units. Research showed that this lubricant caused problems in extreme cold. People sent the units in to FoxPro and they corrected that issue. The comments by littledawg above would fit that situation.

I doubt that this same situation would repeat on the TX-505.

My Prairie Blaster is on its way back to me. The report I got from the service department was that some screws came loose???? And that's why it quit working, and they replaced the scroll knob on the remote.

My fingers are crossed that this did the trick. Can't wait to use it again.

Given what we do, and where we use these calls. It's not if, but when something is going to happen. With that in mind, its their customer service, and treating it as if it was their own personal call, that keeps me from ever looking at another call.
