They inhabit dry western areas of the States, in colonies, or "towns". There can be several hundred in a town. Not the brightest critters on earth, but they do know how to multiply. And how to sit upright for the nice man with the rifle.
Weapons of choice are everything from .22 rimfire, .17 hmr, any of the .22 centerfires (most commonly the .223 and 22.250), all the way up to .50BMG.
Not table fare for most of us, but the remains, if any, do feed the coyotes, fox, badgers, magpies and crows.
