I have many friends & family along Texas coast and at least two PM members (Sandy Hicks & Daddy Flea)who are feeling affects of Hurricane Harvey and can use our prayers.

Regards,
hm

You bet. Some of the guys that work on my father in laws crew at AEP here are going to be heading that way to help rebuild power lines. Prayers for all impacted.

Much appreciated Clarence. Still dry here, but we are supposed to get 12 to 18 inches of rain. I will spend most of it here at the refinery.

Glad to hear you're still dry, Jerry.

Talked to my son in Houston last night and as of 11PM they had not had any rain, but according to reports, that is no longer the case. Predictions up to 50" of rain over next three days on weather channel.

As Jeff said, keep us posted, and be safe.

Regards,
Clarence

Houston will not fare well with 50 inches. I hope he gets out of there. That place will get crazy when the water rises. I used to duck hunt with a couple of Htown firefighters that worked in the down town galleria area. They said that it was a mad house when water covered the streets. People would just drive into an underpass despite a high water marker on the walls. Crazy place down there.

The water was starting to back up in the marsh around Sabine Lake when I left work. The houses in the neighborhoods around the marsh in Bridge City will see some flooding for sure.

The county road will be under water to my house by in the morning but that is nothing new around here. The house and everything else should be fine though. I live 4 miles from the Neches river so everything runs off quick. Getting to work may be a challenge so I may have to stay there next week. The upside is that they will pay me around the clock if I stay on the unit. They provide the cot and sleeping bag.

Poor folks down south are taking a beating.

Hoping that's just an over zealous reporter. First reports were 30-40" and that's bad enough.

My son lives just outside the loop not too far from the Galeria. They've lived there for probably 30 years and water got to the first few ft. of his driveway during the last big rain when Houston flooded so badly, but 40" in such short period of time???
No bayous or waterways nearby that I know of.

Regards,
hm

Maybe that was just some headline grabber. None of the news that we have been watching has routinely given that high of an estimate. If not, I hope that it falls over a four or five day period. Maybe the storm water systems can keep up at that rate.

Lots of trash from Nola stayed in Houston after Katrina. Maybe this will run them back to La. After 30 years in Houston he should be aware of the need to be extra careful when the ferals get restless.

You must be down in the valley. This thing is going to wet most of Texas. It has the potential to get very ugly. A slow moving storm dumping heavy rain over East Texas when most of the lakes are at or very near full pool could stress some levies.

Yep, we could sure use some rain down here. Just had the first shower, I'm sure some spin off. Predicting 40% chance tonight, but they were higher before storm passed us by out in the gulf.

That OT can really add up when it runs around the clock.

I once spent 48 hours on the docks as the only available USCG licensed tankerman. Didn't get much sleep though as I had some inexperienced helpers that could have made a mess of things if left to their own devices.

Any likelihood that you'll have to shut down or are they hoping to stay on line?

hm

The plan is to run through it. I will work nights next week and the be off for the weekend. After that I work days on labor day and then go on nights till Nov.15 for a scheduled shut down. 13 on and one off. Gotta make some money for the guvment to give away.

I need to ride my bike down there. You will get some rain for sure. We rode through Clovis New Mexico one year and sparked a flash flood. A guy stopped and told us not to go any further because the road.was under water. He invited us back because they hadnt had rain in 2 years.

Ha, we used to have a Higgins tent trailer we nicknamed the rainmaker. It rained on us every time we went camping.

Come on down, we can always use the rain.....well, almost always.

Just got to the parking lot at work. I guess the initial heavy rain got all of the pluggage out of the ditches and creeks. A lot less water than I expected. That is a good thing. The new estimate is 19 inches. As long as it doesnt come down in inches per hour we should come through with only minor losses here.

Just saw footage of Chimney Rock & Hy 59 (SW Freeway) and water was up on the exit ramp. As I recall, that is a bit lower than Chimney Rock towards San Felipe, but they've had 20"-23" of rain so far and predicting another 20" to come.

hm

Hobby airport reported 9.9 inches in one hour. TV showing water waist deep at the Galeria. Hope your son got out.

They just shut our main gate due to flooding. We have a pretty good drip going.

Spoke with him before rain started and he did not indicate plans to leave. Has lived there 30 yrs. or so. The worst they have had previously was street flooding & left about 1.5' of "freeboard".

Texted this morning @ 1100 said, "OK so far". His home is off Chimney Rock between Westheimer and San Felipe, so not too far from The Galeria.

Any word Clarence? Still a lot of water left to fall and some of the big lakes are having to dump water. I am starting to think that this will get hairy.

Talked to my son last night. Water made it about half way up his driveway....a tad higher than the worst previous, but had gone back down (@1800). Street was dry and he could see bottom of storm sewers.

Watching radar this morning looks like major bands were north of Houston and projected path (if correct) shows storm to move east of town. That would put Hou. on the "dry" side of the center anyway. Praying it moves out soon and the USACE are able to control optimum amount of water released from the reservoirs and their calculations correct.

Just saw that Gov. Abbott has called up the entire Texas National Guard.

Looks like the heavier rain has shifted to your area. Hope you are on high ground, Jerry, how are you making out?

Regards,
Clarence
