Predator calling history.

Does anyone know of a good book on the history of predator calling? I know a lot of the names of early callers, but I would love to read more about them. Think if you could go back in time to the 40’s or 50’s with the technology of today and call coyotes that could not have possibly heard a call before! Who was the first, or do we know? Weasel-Ut if the book does not exist could you write it for us? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gifThanks, I will buy 4 or 5 copies!

I dont know of one that is all about history but i do have a copy of calling all varmints that is published in 1952.
But yeah weasel get on with writing the book lol.

In the book "Predator Calling with Jerry Blair" (second edition) he has a chapter on the early hunters and especially the early callers and call makers. It tells of who made the first calls and the evolution of some of the modern calls as the businesses changed hands and their name changes.

Also contact BillyTheKid... He's a wealth of information as well, especially from CA and the SW.. He had a collection of old calls and e-callers that is now in a call mfg. musuem..

Good advice. He and Al Lux wrote the book. It's packed with the early history of calls and call makers. And a few tidbits about some of the users of those calls. www.rhinocalls.com

Besides the books mentioned above, you might want to try to find a copy of "Varmint Hunters Digest" by Jim Dougherty. It's old, so you may need to look on e-bay.

Yellowhammer, you missed ! LOL!!! Fort Sumter is in South Carolina, approximately 1640 miles from Fort Sumner, New Mexico, the professed locale of the demise of William Bonney; aka Billy the Kid! OOOOOOPPPPSSSS!
