Predator Calls for St. Charles

Well, the results from the CCAA show were finally posted. My duck call finished 3rd place and my predator call finished 5th in the professional carved division.

Everybody there like the predator call a lot and I plan on doing another one for next years show.

Thanks again everybody - Brian

Congratulations, but I can't beleive there were any calls there that looked any better than either one of yours. Your work is amazing.

Wow!!! Those are very good looking calls. I wish I could go to ST Charles to see what goes on and see the other calls.

Those two carved calls look amazing! That predator call looks just too good. I'd say 3rd and 5th place is pretty darn good, but as others have said, if you didn't win; what did? MAN! Just love how that predator call looks. A coyote on it would look even better though

! LOL

May I ask how long it takes you to make something like that from start to finish?

Here's a couple of pics for you swimbait. The first is the call that finished first in the carved division which I was entered. It is made by Bob Wiseman, a very talented callmaker from Tennessee. The second call won the open division in the professional category, and is made by Mike Houlihan from Oregon. I thought this was easily the best call at the show. His scrimshaw work has to be seen in person to be appreciated. It doesn't get any better.

As you can see, I have a ways to go to equal the work of these gentleman, but that's ok with me, as I only compete against myself.

As for the time taken to make my calls, I have never timed myself. If I had to guess I would say close to 20 hours for the duck call and around a 12 hours for the predator call.

Thanks again for the kind words - Brian
