Predator hunter killed in Lunenburg County Va. Monday night

I have a more "budget" thermal and before I ever pulled the trigger I did a lot of practice identifying critters. I was definitely a learning curve for me before I felt comfortable shooting.

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - A Virginia man faces multiple charges in a “hunting incident” that left another man dead in February in Lunenburg County, the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources says.

A grand jury indicted Jonathan A. Bailey, 47, of Buffalo Junction, on Tuesday on four felony counts - including homicide - in the shooting death of William C. Gaulding III, 54, of Victoria.

Bailey also faces charges of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, assault in the commission of a felony, and reckless handling of a firearm.

“Other charges included hunting with a firearm while intoxicated and shooting across a roadway,” the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources said in a news release on Thursday.

😡😡😡 Doubt the investigation was very long. The entire justice system is an absolute joke though! Somehow even outright, red handed, without a doubt offenders still have time to try and justify or beat their case.

A drunken idiot that killed an innocent man by complete neglect of common sense doesn’t deserve leniency in my opinion. But I’m somewhat of a hardass! I truly wish I possessed the ability to forgive people. But when you have made such preventable mistakes by such poor judgment, you don’t deserve it in my opinion! I feel so bad for the victims family. To know how their loved one’s life ended this way is inexcusable.

There are so many "technicallities" in the criminal court system (to protect individuals from the government) that investigations need to dot the I's and cross the t's or a mistrial could happen. Drunk and shooting across a road, wow.

Folks,
That was NOT a hunting accident!!
He was under the influence of alcohol, had a loaded rifle and decided to go out at night and shoot.
I know there's a ton of hunters on this site-they don't do that; I don't do that Mike doesn't, Bob doesn't. This was just a tremendous and unfortunate misuse of a rifle by a totally reckless fool with no regard for the rest of the population.
And it gives each and every one a bad reputation as hunters and firearm owners.
Sorry for the rant.

I’m somewhat of a hardass myself. But I do truly hope I have the ability to forgive the person who killed my brother one day.

I understand. That is truly how it should be. As hard as it is for me from the outside of this and many other senseless tragedies, I can only imagine the feelings of those closer to the matter. I just don’t think that I could let it go.

I am sorry for the loss you and yours have endured. I do hope that you ultimately find strength enough to grant forgiveness. Maybe someday I will find that strength myself.
