Predator Hunting Near Jacksonville, NC??

My wife is standing up in her friends wedding at the end of December in Jacksonville, NC. Wondering if anyone knows how the hunting is within a few hours of there? Is their any public land or guided hunts? I really would rather be home hunting, but if their is any decent hunting I could score big points by going up with her.

When I go near the ocean I hunt with a fishing pole. Most land for hunting in the eastern part of the state is leased or otherwise private. Search NC Wildlife Resources Comission or NC Sportsman(magazine). Call. Check with your wife's friend to see if a hunter has been invited to the doings and call. Good Luck

joe send me an email address and i will see if i can hook you up with someone in the area . we have a member that lives about 30 minutes up the road from there .

Puppypopper -PM Sent, thanks

It looks like their is some public hunting land realtively close to Jacksonville and I have the wife putting the word out to her friend that I want to hunt if I am going to go to the wedding
-Thanks Harry

There's heaps of public ground within a couple hours of Jacksonville. The Croatan NF is "BIG big", do a search on the NC wildlife commission for maps and info.

A great guide service is here: http://www.homestead.com/conmans/

give Mike a call and see if he has any yotes...but watch out, Federally protected Red Wolves are in his area.

Dec. is a great time to hunt East NC....arguably the best. Don't forget your fishing pole too.

Got the email, Thanks puppypopper.
So now that it sounds like I would have a place to hunt, do you guys have many coyotes down there? If I can get 5 in a whole season here in NY that is doing good for me. Just curious if I should expect to be skunked?

Not that many around yet but expect to have a great time....the good news is there are very few people targeting them specifically, so they are not real spooky.
