Predator Masters LBL HUNT!

That sounds good! Looks like we are filling the place up! They may haft to build more cabins!

Also there are some hotels just over in TN, not very far from the LBL.

And they also have camping tent or RV and camper right there were we are as well.

I don't recomend pulling a camper in the A1 site though, I snore and six inch walls just ain't that thick /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And don't forget the motels and hotels in Aurora , Grandrivers,or Cadiz.

Getting back on topic, as per Keekee's post:
A few of us, hunting the Tennessee side, have been staying at the Dover Inn,@ Dover,Tn.(aprox 30 miles south of Wrangler's camp via the Trace). Rooms and cabins are available but they can fill up fast. Also, they are very hunter friendly. Another plus, the motel is located across the road from the LBL southern entrance, close to food, stores and fuel. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

No cooking facilities inside. I suggest a hot plate or a campstove you can use outside on the picnic table they provide. They don't want open flames of any kind within the cabins.And there are a number of reasons for that regulation besides fire risk's. These cabins are very tightly constructed and the chances of sufocation due to carbon monoxide poisoning are there as well no matter how vigilant you are.

Besides the picnic table there is a steel grill out there for charcoal or wood fire use ,if you wish to use that instead of a hot plate or campstove. Jimmie

Sorry, I haven't been monitoring the board in a coon's age. Been busy killing, skinning and wrapping deer. Don't ask how many, cause I'd sound like a violator. But as you know, most Kentuckians can kill as many does as they can afford with the bonus doe tags, and they're cheap. I used my Rem788 in .243 on deer this year and it flat did the trick from 40 yards to 120. That's my yote gun, too, although I need to pull the 5x20 scope off and put on a more standard 3x9. Had trouble finding some of those close deer at 5x. Nothing but hair.

Definitely looking forward to the hunt. My buddy who's come with me the past couple years will be along this time, too. He's bought a new lake house on Kentucky near New Concord and we'll be bunking there. We've hunted the north end at every hunt previously, but with his house down on the Tennessee line, we may try to work some places down closer to the middle this time. Gonna be hard to turn loose of some of those spots that I'm familiar with, though.

Got a good bobcat story to pass along involving my brother, but I'll hold it until the hunt.

From what I am seeing so far this year ya better stick with what you know. Squirrel hunts are headquartering out of Wranglers as well. I am hoping the colder weather will keep the old farts to home a little more this winter. Cold weekend last week and I had the place to myself. Weekend before and they were everywhere. Big tournament squirrel hunt was the first weekend and they left sign everywhere in the LBL.

I am thinking of coming down with a couple of buddies. I have a few questions:
1. We would be arriving Thursday night. I am assuming the hunting starts Friday. Will there be someone around to point us in the right direction? I read the maps, but I have never been to LBL so I wouldn't have the slightest idea where some good places would be.
2. Would it be worth it for some novice yote hunters to make the 9 hour trip? It sounds like fun and we are die hard hunters.
3. Will there be groups we could hook up with? I don't mean we need our hands held, but just to possibly make some stands with or at least follow to some spots by truck before hitting the woods, and then going our seperate ways. The way it sounds alot of you guys have been here before. I guess I am hoping someone might be willing to take us under their wing, being rookies and all.

I've never done anything like this before. It is always head out to the woods, set up, and hunt whenever I want. All the info about how this thing is set up would be appreciated. Ky RAY and Tharris will already be there. You can talk with them about how things are working that week first hand that thursday night. And have friday to familiarize yourselves with some of the area.

It is a great trip even for the novice. You would be surprised at just how much you can learn at the campfire at night. Folks are more than happy to talk with you about what they do and how to do it when it comes to using a call.

Right now I don't have the pattern down yet. Human pressure causes constant change in there. I am finding a lot more human sign than anything so far this season. I hope this weather change we are having now will settle things back down to at least halfway normal. It is finally getting wet enough to keep a lot of the hunters close to the better roads. When I get a halfway decent pattern down I can point you to the more likely areas.

As soon as I get word from my huntin' partner I will know if I am making the trip. Hopefully some cabins are still available!

I have never hunted Coyotes but would really like to get started. Would this hunt be a place for a newbe to come and ask questions and try and learn.

Well anybody for that matter.
I wanted to make it to the LBL hunt but i have to be at work.
The first and possibly second week of Feb. are out.
I'm working in NW Florida right now and hunting here is the pits.
What's the hunting like there after 2 weeks of callers?
Jimmy would you be interested in going a day or three?
I'm going to stay 5 days if i travel that far.
I'd sure like to make the lbl with you'all but can't.Best of luck Mike
