Since its been a little slow lately, I figued we would show you guys what we have been up to lately. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As most of you know we shot Rock River Ar's during the filming of Vol. 3. We loved everything about the rifles, except the weight. The Bull barrels are great shooters, but can weigh you down a little after a while. After talking with several RR owners and reading alot of your feedback we decided to try and get RR to become more in touch with the predator hunting community. Most people who dont predator hunt really have no idea what the differences between a Varmit rifle and a Predator rifle are. We have worked with Rock River over the past few months in designing a more predator specific rifle. After discussing different options at the Shot Show this year, and many phone calls and emails later, we came up with a lighter barreled Ar with the predator hunter in mind. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

The Predator Pursuit Rifle will also be available with the famous EOP platform(that we love) and have several customising options. The pictue shown is the flat-top version since the majority of their customers choose that option(why? I dont know /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif).

Here is what we've come up with.

Todd, That is fantastic. When Jeff asked me about mine all I had to give was awesome reviews. After having it I had shot my bolt guns a couple of times. It is an AMAZING TOOL. I had mine bead blasted there at RR.
CONGRATS YOU GUYS!

God Bless,

Song Dog

Todd, Whats the big difference between this and what you guys used in your last video (other than the EOP)? Where does the seight difference come in?

Nice looking shooter by the way. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I've been waiting for this announcement. Talk about a great compliment to you guys.

That's just too cool.

Congrats...

Tony

Dang Weas, 6 minutes! You sure are itching to hand out a hug today. I dont know about the whole monkey thing though?

Song Dog, Yep they are great rifles, and now a little better. Thanks for your input.

Crapshoot, the main differene is about 2lbs less metal on the pointy end /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. The lighter barrel was the main change on this one. As I said above, we loved the varmit EOP's all except the weight. We like a heavy barrel for stability, but the Bull Barrel was even a little much for us. Basically the barrel is 1/8 to 1/4 inch smaller in diameter, thus lighter and more balanced. A little easier on the shoulder too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Tony, you CAN keep a secret. I wont doubt you again LOL. I feel fortunate to have our name on such a great product. They are a class act and let us pick the name after we helped with some ideas on this rifle and their new Coyote Rifle. The coyote rifle is a little more radical in design, with ours being more traditional. Imagine that a traditional AR! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Take care,

Todd

I'm thinking of an AR. was looking at the bushy predator. that is a nice rig there heard great thing's aout RR. i live about 20.00 mile's from olympic arms. the RR sound's. better. Rick

I waaaaaaannnnnntttttt one, man they look cool. Already told the wife what santa wants for christmas. Thanks Todd and good job, Al.

oh man I got to get me one of them! guaranteed to miss regularly ,cause short legged people to get hung in fences, brings dead coyotes back to life and only shoots well after dark!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yellowhammer,

The .223 Wylde allows you to shoot both 5.56 and .223 safely, but gives better accuracy than the 5.56 nato chamber. Think of this way, 5.56 being the "loosest" of the chambers and .223 being the "tightest" While the Wylde chamber is somewhere in between giving you the best of both worlds /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

bearmanric, Rock River does make a solid rifle. Seems that everyone who owns one is happy with their purchase.

BAMIT, YOU KNOW SANTA? Would you please tell him I want a Mt. Lion for Christmas! Congrats on the new release, cant wait to see it.

guess, I see you have watched the blooper section, feel free to view the rest of the video now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif With all of the fancy editing stuff these days I could "try" and make myself look flawless, but that just aint my style. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

Tony, Dont encourage him, PLEASE!

roosterslayer, The rifle as is retails at $1060, the complete upper retails for $600.

Yellowhammer, What TTFIJI said /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

TTFIJI, Well said /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif.

Take care,

Todd

And I still shoot a varmint rifle at predators, some of us old guys well never learn. Wish I had an extra $1060 that rifle looks like fun. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

NICE looking rifle! Just wish I hadn't seen it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif I really like that winter trigger guard, too. Very practical.

I just sold my Bushmaster Varminter a few months ago because I wanted something shorter and was thinking about the Remington LTR or the Remington Police cut down to 20". Now I've got this to compare it to and decide which one to get. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Thanks for the pic! Can't wait to see some results of how it performs on the predators! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Take care and God Bless,

Rusty

Rest easy oldtimer; the AR platform does absolutely nothing any better than your turnbolt varminter....and in some cases, is lacking in comparison:)

BTK, The rifles look fun, but they are a even more fun to hunt with. I have a nice 22-250 gathering dust right now. I lent it to my buddy the other day to go p-dog shooting. Most action it has seen all year. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Rusty, I dont see the problem here! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I know you have been dating(I like that) a couple rifles for awhile. We will be able to give em a good workout before you know it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Vic, Falls short? I know its no .17, but.....JUST JOKING! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I have been a hard core bolt gun guy for a long time. The AR's are just as accurate and more fun to shoot, expecially predator hunting. Its hard to explain. I feel the force is strong in you. COME TO THE DARK SIDE! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Somehow I dont think its going to work, but hey I gave it a try.

Take care,

Todd

I have no beef with the AR platform Todd. Ive owned in the neighborhood of a dozen different flavors; stock ARs, shortys, and a bunch of highly tuned custom ARs. I shot three gun matches, and sniper matches for many years, and they were the rifles to use along with my M1As.
Im just not fond of them for a "hunting" rifle per se. The ergonomics just don't suit a hunting rifle. Poor cheek to stock fit and feel, and tough to get a good look thru a scope. Lots of changes in that dept. I know, but one would be hard pressed to honestly say the AR feels as good or better than a properly stocked bolt gun. They are what they are, or what they were meant to be:) a battle rifle,to be used with iron sights, and spit lead at the enemy, and do unto him, before he does unto you.
They are an engineering marvel for sure; tough, dependable, and amazingly accurate for the action type.I have to side with the ole farts when it comes to hunting rifles. I want blued steel,a nicely figured walnut stock that glides to the shoulder, and meets my cheek where it should, without having to wiggle and squirm to get a peek thru the glass.
They are certainly the wave though among predator hunters, and Im not quite sure why? Possibly the prospect of rapid, mulitple shots at fleeing hoardes of coyotes, laying waste to doubles, triples or quads?
As hunters, we of course know thats BS:) it's still one well aimed shot at a time that puts fur down, put the dot on the spot, and press the trigger, it's as simple,or as difficult as that:)
Arizona must be particular in some respects, compared to other states. Here, the AR offers no more ammunition capacity than a bolt gun, the magazine capacity can be no more than five rounds. Thus the AR can fire no more than any other rifle, so the high round capacity of the AR magazine is moot.

Vic,

" Possibly the prospect of rapid, mulitple shots at fleeing hoardes of coyotes, laying waste to doubles, triples or quads?"

That was well put, I like that, it has flash! You guys need to come to Texas to get that kinda action. Theres a coyote behind every bush around here. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You know I respect your position on this. I have seen first hand your shooting ability, and if anyone knows what suits them, it is you. They will never have that bolt gun feel, matter of fact a bolt gun feels odd to me now. As you stated its not what they are made for. For me it is quite a non-issue. I have heard that the spring noise bothers people, but I have never seemed to notice it. The way we have our scopes set up with the EOP I have never felt uncomfortable when shouldering the gun. AR's fit my style of calling very well and for me they are the perfect predator hunting gun. They are not for everyone, but they are for me.

take care,

Todd
