Predator Pursuit Rifle

Ive been to your Valhalla by the way,and I saw more rain and dust than coyotes:) but someday I would like to try hunting Texas again!
Is there no magazine capacity limitation in Texas? Probably not huh, I don't know why Arizona is so touchy about those kinds of things, they are the same with scatterguns, only three max capacity, two in magazine,one in chamber. Ive never understood what difference it makes?
Those are nice looking ARs by the way, man how they are making leaps and bounds in AR development.
I can remember the first AR I had that carried a sight rail, rather than the traditional carry handle. A smith made it up for me back in the 80s, cut off the carry handle,then pinned a weaver rail to flanges left by each end of handle, man, I thought I was trick, with the ability to have a scope rather than iron sights.
Funny you mention the spring noise, being half....ok, more than half deaf, Ive never been bothered by it, but I hear the same complaint. I always tell em, hell your lucky you hear it...I wish I could:)

Luckily Texas is pretty lax on that kinda stuff. Limiting an AR to 5 shots does kinda take away from the usefulness. I mean come on what can you really do with 5 shots. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif We do have the same type of shotgun restrictions while hunting game birds, but for coyotes you can jam her full.

I bet the gun does look pretty technical compared to the ones you started with. I almost did the same thing with my first AR, but ended up trading it off for another model. The non-removable hand rail just aint the ticket for mounting a scope.

I get the same ribbing about my hearing. The sad part is my right ear is the good one and I still dont hear the spring noise. My left ear doesnt stand a chance(75% loss). Too much shooting not enough hearing protection. Oh well, I can follow my Grandfathers footsteps and practice selective hearing. He couldnt hear my grandmother yelling in the next room, but he could here a twig snap from 100 yards. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I really like my RRA varmint 18". The rifle is tight and shoots evey bit as good as advertised. It does weigh 8.7 without scope and rings but with the right sling its not uncomfortable to carry. Rusty, you can't go wrong with the Remy LTR either. I put a jewell trigger in mine and I tend to pick it up when chasing coyotes more often than not. Todd, thanks for the info on the Predator pursuit.
 
I just picked up one of the 18" versions used from ar15.com. The first thing I noticed was the added weight. So, before I even shot it I sent it off to D-tech for a fluting job, and as long as it is going to be there getting a comp and left-handed safety to boot. Can't wait to get it back and actually shoot it.
 
Dougk, Sorry, at least it gives you something to think about in the off season.

dcmtex, The weight is the biggest issue for most anyone I have talked to. You really dont hear much negative stuff about RR. I agree the weight is not that big a deal with me, but it is the only thing I was glad to change.

HoustonPDLT, D-tech does have a good fluting process. I am still in the process of getting the fluting to be an option. Hopefully you will see that in the future. Congrats on the new rifle.

Thanks guy, I just got nabbed by The Boss while ordering a winter trigger guard fo my AR. She just doesn't understand sometimes. Your rifle setup looks sharp!!

Hey trashcan,

Everyone seems to like the winter trigger guard. I have got alot of good comments on them. We dont wear supper heavy gloves down here, but any extra room sure is nice.

You got to watch out for the boss, at work or at home /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Neither tend to really understand the need for something of that nature.

Need to bring this post back from the dead because I am looking at getting the Predator Pursuit upper. Does anyone have one yet? Just curious as to what to expect for MOA out of the box, will be shooting Black Hills 60 grain VMAX. I like the fact that its a heavy match barrel so should be lighter than a varmint right?

Tell me how you like it. I dont even have one yet /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. As far as functionality(is that a word? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif) They are the same components as we shot last year, except the lighter barrel and winter trigger gaurd. They will be about 2lbs lighter than the bull barrel. There website says 1" MOA out of the box. There bull barrels say 3/4, I doubt the heavy barrel will shoot worse since it is basically the same barrel, just a little lighter. Not too light and not too heavy, just like I like em.

Tell us what you think when you get it.

It has always been an option, as with all the guns they offer. Normaly you have to request it so many people didnt know about it. They have the EOP listed as an option now for the Predator Pursuit rifle on their website. This Should help people make a better decision on setting up their rifles with it shown on the description page.
