I have been thinking of subscribing to one of these magazines. I really don't think I need to subscribe to both of them. I do not trap. I am mainly interested in just predator calling and yote hunting. Can anyone give me any thoughts about which magazine.

thanks in adv. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I like both magazines, but just read a couple of issues of Trapper and Predator caller and it seems to have much more interesting and in depth articles.

I get Trapper Pred. calling.....its good---mostly trapping though---usually 2-3 articles every issue...they are good though....not sure about the other---it seems mostly like pictures and ads!

I get Trapper and Predator Caller. It has lots of trapping info but the calling info is good. Have to agree with the others that Extreme is mainly advertisers.

I get both of them. I agree that right now the Trapper&Predator Caller is the better of the two, but it usually only has two-maybe three articles on calling. Predator Xtreme is trying to come on a little stronger, that is why I am hanging in there with them.

Another to consider is joining the "VHA, Varmint Hunters Association", you will get a quarterly magazine that is a quality product. Covers rifles, shooting, predators, varmints, calling. It is a little thicker and a lot more professionally put together.

I subscribed to both last winter. I do a little trapping so I like T&PC. I hope T&PC moves ahead with a full time Predator magazine. The editor of T&PC came out with a special edition Predator Magazine issue this fall and I really enjoyed it. I hope its a sign for something more in the works... although I still really like the trapping articles.

Predator Extreme is ok but I'm not really into all the varmint stuff they get into. Their gun guy tech info and Judd Cooney's stuff are both pretty informative though.

I get Predator Xtreme and wish I hadn't wasted the money on it. The last one I got had 2 full page advertisements followed by an additional 2 half pages of advertisement with 2 half pages of articles bragging on how great the product on the previous 2 pages is. Pretty much nothing useful in it as far as I can tell. Mine went right in the trash.

I've read several of the Predator Extreme mags and they're trash. All they do is advertise and then advertise some more. They have almost zero content. Even their so called articles are usually the author trying out somebodies new widget and loving it. I don't think I've ever seen a negative review.
I've read quite a few T&PC and they always have solid content. There is a lot of trapping in there though.

I walked out to get the mail with my Predator Extreme house slippers in the Predator Extreme Extreme Predator colors. I noticed my truck which I ordered trough Predator Extreme with the Predator Extreme decals on the Predator Extreme Extreme Predator color trim had mud in the shape of Predator Extreme logo. I found my Predator Extreme magazine in my Predator Extreme mail box that I got through my Predator Extreme magazine order form. What a waste of money.
Get the Trapper and Predator caller and Varmint Hunters Assoc magazine as others have mentioned. They are good readers.

I subscribe to both. The T&PC used to be a little better before they cut down on the size and content, but is is still a good read. I've subscribed to PE since it started out as Varmint Masters and it isn't as bad as some make it out to be. Yea, there is some sales jobs disguised as articles, but there is still some really good information also. Plus, I actually like advertizing in specialty magazines. It keeps me informed of what is new on the market.

Agreed. Predator Extreme is just one giant advertisement after another. It's too short on content and I've noticed articles in there that are almost word for word copies of other articles in previous issues. Needless to say the ads are almost always exactly the same. Now the Varmint Hunter Magezine is much MUCH better. IMHO, go with that and you won't be dissapointed.

I may be partial, but I like T&PC for good, solid information. Not a run-on list of all the gadgets and whatchamacallits you "gotta have" if you want to hunt better than you did last year.

And ya know what? If you contact their editor and let him know you'd appreciate a bit more on calling, I bet he'll listen. For what it's worth. You might even ask him about that special magazine thing and see if they might not have another one already in the making.
