No calling or baiting necessary. Its simply spot and stalk, if you will. If they're congregated on the heavy ice, there's not much stalking involved. Likewise for ranges. If they're congregated on the ice, range will be dictated by the distance you can comfortably retrieve them, I suppose. The most recent one for me was a whopping 10 yards. Not much of a challenge for the .204 Ruger. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think that is about maximum range that it would work on a coyote.!!!

I think that'll probably be your little secret. (Oh, and don't tell the well respected folks on this forum who have been whacking yotes with the .204 at 300+ yards. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif )

Hey Brad, nice beater! You have a personal licence too! I got mine about 10 years now. Lots of fun! Haven't had the chance this year to go out. I just got in from 3 weeks off shore. Actually we where up in the ice, off fogo. Wow! There's alot of ice to come down. The seals haven't really gotten this far yet ( the main patch). I've got a picture of several thousand north of fogo. I'm waiting for a nice day to go out! Did you see many when you were out?

Hi Trevor. They're still closed for a quota count in this area, afaik, and I don't know if the ice will ever get down this far this year.

It's interesting to see something like this, that I probably will never get to do.
 
I just found out that the personal sealing is still open in this area. I was talking to somebody here at work. So the next fine day i'm heading out for sure!! I hoping the ice will stay around for awhile yet.
