Price check on NEF Pardner .223

Local store has one on consignment. Doesn't look like it has been abused, just a tiny bit of blueing wear on the muzzle. Has a black synthetic stock. They are asking $165.

Is this a good deal or not?

That is about the right price for a used NEF what caliber wasit. They are good guns and I have seen some that would really shoot.

Hmmm, the Pardner was only made in shotguns, as far as I know, sounds kinda fishy to me. As far as I know, the .223 is only made in the Ultra or Handi, Survivor configuration. Is it new? If someone has put an SB1 pardner frame and a .223 barrel together, it's not safe to shoot. The SB1 frame isn't made for the pressures of the .223. For a price comparison, a new Handi .223 sells for $196 at Walmart. I've seen them sold used for $130-$150.

OK, I went out and looked at it at lunch. The action is marked just the same as all of the brand new NEF Handi rifles the dealer has on the wall. On the used one, the left side of the chamber of the barrel is stamped Pardner Handi Rifle and the caliber. So it is the barrel that is marked with "Pardner" not the action.

It should be a shooter, if it's in good shape, that price isn't bad! The second letter of the serial number denotes the year of manufacture, first letter N denotes NEF, and H means Harrington & Richardson...Make sure the barrel is etched on the left side of the underlug with the last 3 digits of the serial number of the frame. If it is, chances are it's a factory fitted barrel. Check to make sure it locks up good and crisp, tight... you shouldn't have to slam it closed. There should be no visible gap between the standing breech and the barrel when you hold it up sideways in front of you with it backlit.
