Priming tool options

I don't load a ton either. But sometimes the RCBS is a pita. Especially with my 44 load. I don't know why, but it likes to double feed primers. Also, the lid on the primer tray has worn out and likes to pop off inadvertently. I just tape it down now. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and comments.

I don't care for the feel of the Lee hand primer and I have broken 2 of them over the years. I now use 2 of the RCBS Universals so I don't have to constantly change the seating rams for large and small primers.

I load hundreds of .44 Mags plus 10 other calibers with no double feeds. You do have to have the right loading gate installed properly for it to work right. If you have a problem with any RCBS product all you have to do is call and a new one or part is on the way at no charge. You don't need to put up with a bad lid or tray unless you just like to punish your self.

The LEE's will last. Lioke jack said you just gotta know how to care for them. They have their flaws but they can be fixed. I'll try to post some pics later this pm

I have promised myself one of the fancier hand primers like the Sinclair or K&M as soon as my original Lee hand primer wears out. I got it in 1979 and it's still going.

I have had to add some grease over time and it is beginning to show signs of wearing out so there is a chance.

These fancier hand priming tools, that you guys are mentioning, don't the primers have to be loaded individually during the process? Seems like that could be aggravating for me! As far as the Sinclair model goes, I'm sure it is a top-notch reloading tool. I purchased the Sinclair Stainless Ultimate Trimmer a while back and I can't even put into words how awesome that thing is! I love getting my moneys worth when I buy something, and my new trimmer goes above and beyond that! Sinclair will be getting more of my business when I make future purchases for reloading equipment. Anyway, I like my RCBS hand priming tool that come with my original kit, but I really have to pay attention while working it because I'd say 1 out of every 30 primers or so will end up sideways when raising it to be seated in my cases. Originally, I stuck a couple sideways and they were ruined, but now that I know to watch for it I can prevent it from happening. I think that the bench mount RCBS priming tool is intriguing, but not everyone has the space on their benches for something like that!

I would stick with the RCBS. I have the RCBS universal priming tool, which with all of the different calibers I reload for is excellent, no shell holders needed. It would have to rate as the best tool I have ever bought for my bench.

The RCBS bench one loads a primer to the holder on the reverse stroke of the handle. It uses the primer tubes that come with the press (plus one with the tool).

I have 3 of each size, so I can prime 300 cases before I have to shut down and "reload" them.

Yeah, if you had to manually place the primer on the anvil, that would be a deal-breaker for me.
