Primos Alpha dog customer service frustration

Posted a few weeks ago about my remote going out, well it's now 8 weeks and still no new free replacement. Trying to do my homework and think I have narrowed new caller to foxpro or WT. I don't understand all the various file formats that FP offers 4 in all and I googled 24 bit audio and after reading couple short articles I don't understand anymore than I did before. I'm in mid 50's blue collar laborer and very technology challenged. WT claims best sounds and true 24 bit sounds and equipment to reproduce those sounds. WT claims FP is using a play on on words and really don't have true 24bit sound coming out of their units. WT also claims the best live animal sounds as if FP sounds are hand blown calls being recorded. I'm very confused about the different file formats available and this 24bit controversy. Wish I still had my old JS cassette caller. Please explain all you can in simple terms these issues I'm questioning. I'm looking at dropping $600 bucks on a shockwave or a M21 which I think is WT top end unit. Not sure what I'm going to do with my alpha dog if I ever get that new remote that they have promised.

If you get the remote fixed/replaced, sell the call.

Personally, I like Foxpro callers. The products, the people, everything. If I ever feel the need to replace my Fury, it will be with another Foxpro.

In your shoes, I think I'd look at the calls that most interested me, compare the features, etc.

and then buy the Foxpro

Seriously, either caller is going to call critters.

I am a foxpro customer. The WT is top notch from those who own them. The one down side for myself is their remote. I love to hunt at night and see it as useless. It has no lighted display to see your call choice. You have to have a cheat sheet to look at what number what call is. Their sounds are said to be great but feature wise it is definitely not a call I would buy. I have also seen a few customer service issues where foxpro EXCELS IN.

Look on foxpro website and see if anywhere you can find a bashing of another call manufacturer. Thats another reason I choose fp. They strive to be the best and their customers are happy and yet they dont need to have a pissing match over why theirs are better. They are..and thats that

If you call FoxPro, ask them how many sounds they use are hand calls. They told me when I ordered my Fx5 about 5-6 years ago. I'm sure that they will tell you as well. Ease of use, and programming the caller, and customer service has to go to FoxPro. IMO.

I'm surprised no one has really explained to me all these file formats and the 24 bit audio thing. I figured there were some guys on here that could explain in terms that I would understand. I know FP has great service. Primos has great people but poor service. I want to know about the other stuff I mentioned. Please help me understand this audio quality stuff.

24bit is a codec that allows more room for editing and mixing... Unless you have a pair of 9000 dollar headphones with their own AMP you will never hear the difference between a 24bit sound and a CD quality 16bit sound. If you want to make it more complicated I can take an lowly 8bit sound recorded off a JS PM3 up convert it via software to 24bit. Is it true 24bit? maybe maybe not? WT advertises their player will play 24bit sounds, but the sounds in their library are 16bit and not quite CD quality. All of Foxpros .24 bit sounds are available in 16bit format.... The bottom line is Foxpro and WT both have excellent sounds, both will call critters if your woodcraft is up to par. Only you can decide if you like Foxpros easy to use remote, and the ability to add our own sounds to the call. With a MA21 you get 126 proven sounds, a simple non frills remote, plus if you are calling heavily called ground the coyotes might have heard FP lightning jack 29 times this week, but the only time time they will have heard Fleming Hare distress is when you fire up your WT. So in the end both have pluses and minuses, good luck in your choice.

On the fp website it claims that all the sounds are real. But if some were hand calls it wouldn't bother me. People use hand calls to call in coyotes. Then why wouldn't playing those sounds over an ecaller call in coyotes.

Foxpros mark2 and fxp sounds are real animals. The free ones on their site are mostly mouth calls but they are free, what do you expect. The thing that made WT sounds "amazing" was their rarity, it was almost mythical when I joined this site 7 years ago. WT has no audio out on their calls and the sounds are encrypted to a level that would make the NSA jealous. Several things have happened in the past 3 years that damaged WTs amazingly mythical sound status. First. Foxpro teamed up with Cal Taylor his and others hard work have taken Foxpros coyote vocal library from Bill Austin and Randy Anderson mouth calls to well listen to the samples for yourself they are good. Second the MA series is 4 or 5 years old now, other then adding more sounds for the price and an internal antenna nothing has improved. To make matters worse WT is renting their amazing sounds to any cheap call manufacturer who will pay IE flextone, ICOTEC, Cass creek to name a few. I bought a Flextone for $85.00, it has 100 sounds 90 are WT... Do the math that less less then a dollar for amazing sounds. Before anyone says the sounds on a WT are higher quality then the Flextone, they are identical to the ear and on the sound graph of Audacity.

Both libraries have their strengths and weaknesses.... Both brands have a proven track record of killing critters when employed with good woodcraft... The advise I will give is this beware of people with an axe to grind.. This is where I have to say, I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night, I do own a Foxpro an original cs24 which has 22 sounds on it, 4 Foxpro, 4 WT, 1 Dennis Kirk, 4 Burnham Bros. And 9 Johnny Stewart. Also be aware I am from Ohio which makes me a buckeye, a worthless nut really.

Thanks for the update on your son. We all appreciate what your son is doing for us. Anytime I pump gas, go to a movie or go coyote hunting I think of him and all the brave people that are making sure that we can do these things when ever and where ever.

I have walked in your son's shoes and have given blood and sweat for our Flag. He and all who serve our Country and protect our Freedom are to be admired. They do this for love of their families and our Flag. We all know for sure that it's not for the money.

God Bless America
