Primos Alpha Dog

Just wandering guys,I have a foxpro spitfire right now,its ok but not alot of calls and volume.I am thinking of the Dog for about 300dollars which is about what I want to spend.Just curious about this call.

I have one and I have called in a few coyotes with it. If the battery's get low it does not sound so good and a lot of the sounds that are on the call have a bad echo to them but it does work.

What I did like about the Alpha Dog was the coyote vocals and the pro sequences. The remote was easy to use and the legs sat the caller off the ground a little.

What I didn't like about it was no battery indicator so the only way to know when the battery was low was by distortion in the call(maybe that's different now I don't know). Their customer service was terrible. I called them twice and both times they acted like they were doing me a favor just by talking to me. It eats batteries when it's really cold or just doesn't function. This has just been my experience. I now own a Foxpro and have no complaints.

I've the Primos for 2 yrs. flintrock is right on! Batteries get weak after about 9 sets and sound isn't right. I will get a FoxPro next time or THE BULLET. One that can take a charge makes more sense now. No more Primos!!

My buddy has the primos and I am not a fan. Doesn't sound right to me. I am certain there are many people who have called in many coyotes with one, but I just didn't like. it.

I'm on my 4th season with mine. Like some of the others I have experienced the diminished sound quality and occasional skips when the batteries begin to wear down. I have not had trouble with the cold effecting it at all and I've been out with it for several hours at a time in temps as low as -15*f many times. As far as the sounds go I do like the coyote vocals over many of the FoxPro but I prefer most of the FoxPro distress sounds. Overall for the money I think its a decent buy. If you can spend a little more the FoxPro is hard to beat for quality and customer service.
I did have deal with primos cs for a remote replacement on an old power dog and they sent me a new one no questions asked so my experience with them has also been decent.

Any thing that says Primos on it walk on by and look at FoxPro. They will be better and they take care of their customers.
I owned 4 primos units from the turbo dog to the alpha dog and had issues with them all along with rotten customer service, so they lost my business.

I think it's a decent caller. For the $300 dollar range you're not going to find a better remote. Youre not going to find a battery indicator on the calling unit until you get to a shockwave. It would probably benefit from good rechargeable batteries, but does lose sound quality when batteries get low.

It isn't a FoxPro with a tx-1000 remote by any means. It is a decent call though.

I have had an alpha dog for a few years. I also have a FoxPro. They are very similar as far as user friendly. Battery power issues are similar in my opinion as you always have to be sure you have new or charged batteries. I got my alpha dog for around $230 and for the price it is hard to beat.

I have a CS24 it is a nice call also but more than twice the price. I can't say that critters respond better to either one. I have only had the FoxPro for this 2015/2016 season.

Good luck with your decision.

I've been impressed with my Alpha Dogg for the last 3 seasons. The batteries last for a long while. The remote is super easy. I've called lots of coyotes and coons with it. I keep trying to talk myself into a Foxpro but the Alpha Dogg just works.

A buddy of mine called in 14 coyotes with one this weekend. I called in 5 with a FoxPro and hand calls. I don't necessarily like the way they sound. But what sounds good to me and what sounds good to a coyote are two different things.

I've had the Boss Dogg for two years and have no issues other than the batteries (D cells) coming out of the tray when bounced around on the atv. A couple wraps of electrical tape around the battery pack solved that.
As far as battery life with a primos, they will drain fairly fast if cranked at full volume. Here in SW Mo. we have a lot of timber and small fields, so no need for high volume like in the desert.
One set of batteries will last me at least 50 sets.

As far as customer service goes, I thought they were great! I called them about the issue of batteries vibrating out of the tray and they offered to ship me a brand new unit, but I declined and did the electrical tape "repair" instead.

The Alpha Dogg and Boss Dogg are very large and heavy units. If I walked any great distances to my stands, I would want a smaller, lighter unit

Just wanted to correct the battery indicator on the FOXPRO remotes. The remote with the new Inferno and the Banshee both have remotes that display battery levels. And with the new category schemes on the new remotes, they are becoming a quick favorite. Let me know if I can answer any other questions. The new remotes are really something to check out.

do they display the battery level of the caller? the remote? or both?

Yeah it's only the remote. The callers may have a "low battery warning" at that point it's too late. I'd like to see a battery indicator on the speaker system of the calls like the shockwave.

Edit: I could be mistaken, the new foxpros may have them on the speaker unit. When I bought my fusion they did not.
