Primos Bloodhound for a scan light

Anybody ever tried to use a Primos Bloodhound as a scanning light? It has just a red LED setting out of the three. Wasn't sure if this was too much light or not enough. Was given one awhile back don't really like for blood trailing so it just sits here. Thought the lone red led might work

Froggskinner,

Actually it works quite well. I purchased one about 6 or 7 years ago and like you I didn't care much for it's blood tracking ability. I tried it as a handheld scan light and it worked fine but the battery life wasn't all that great. Of course, I do not use handheld scanning lights anymore lol.

Hi, I'm just getting into night calling. I've also got a Primos Bloodhound . Thanks for the tip ? I also believe it will work great for scanning.

Tried it last night worked great. Lit eyes out to about 250-300 yards. Battery lasted about 2.5-3 hrs. Shot two dogs. My son can't shoot yet so he scans for me and this light works good for his small hands. Going to try and modify lens to get alittle bit more light. Get rid if the frosted lens. Thanks guys
