primos power dog?

I purchased one last year and I used it twice and got my money back from basspro. The quality of sound was poor and in terms of sound volume it is very poor. If you get a little wind the sound will not broadcast very effectively. 3 out of ten at best. I started off with Johnny stewart and it worked great

for a starter call id say its a good one, obviously a foxpro is better, but you could end up spending up to 600 bucks on one of those. I liked mine, called in my first bobcat ever with it, so i works. Yes there are better calls out there, but 75 bucks is a pretty good deal to get you started on your predator adventure.

I've had 2 foxpros..gonna get a 3rd this summer. I've got two Johnny Stewarts.. An old cassette 612 and a pm-3. I have a friend who has a powerdog and i really can't see why Randy Anderson put his name on it.

If you're on a tight budget get a Johnny Stewart pm3. IMO it is the best call for the money. Sound quality and volume are very good. I beleive it's cheaper than a new powerdog to. I'm thinking they go for 89-99$ new. May be less than that now.

Ya know, IMHO Randy is a Pioneer in the industry. He had a skill that no one was doing, or maybe no one knew how to market. Primos took interest and it took off. Don't know Randy's personal story but I had a girl who worked for me several years ago who was dating a guy who got drafted very high in the NFL draft. We used to talked about guys who signed "stupid" contracts or who did things that were just stupid etc...Well, as she informed me, once a player signs with an agent, their butt is in the hands of that agent. If the agnet makes an absurd offer/deal, it's in the press as if the player is doing it. Of course everyone says "fire the SOB, wellllll, it's not that easy, cause once you've signed, thats that. You can fire them, but you have to pick another/new agnet and the original agent gets the large majority of the contract the new agent "might" negotiate for you, so you're screwed. So don't believe everything your read. I suspect something along these lines happened to Randy, could be wrong, just sayin. Nothing against Primos here either, I have just about every Randy Anderson video and just about everyone of his calls. Excellent products. Just have never heard rave reviews about the power dog...

Thanks a lot guys, this is more feedback than I expected.....the more opinions the better, I may pick up a pm3, or may just stick to getting a few mouth calls.......I appreciate the info, and thanks for your time! Good people here for sure.....

Stanly... Could be. I made that comment not bashing Randy, just trying to state what I thought of the caller. I have and love his videos, and have alotta respect for him.

If it came across as me flaming Randy I aplogize as thatvwas not my intent.

But on the flip side of my thoughts of the powerdog, i'n the truth 7 it calls coyotes.. So it works, just think it's poorly constructed and not loud enough for certain situations. Remote range kinda sucks to

I've seen the power dog on Randy's latest video. I can't imagine that clicking the remote does on stand here in Arizona. I hunt close quarters and I would get caught clicking a sound change or muting. Foxpro isn't gonna cost $600.00 unless you want that unit. I think their spitfire is about $200.00 and probably less with new years deals. Remote controlled and a plenty of sound would serve much better. Keep hand calling and get a quality unit with a good reputation.

No way, they are junk. Personally I would never buy one from a company that hasn't been making electronic callers for at least 5 years, Thats why I got a Foxpro FX5. Foxpro is the best in the industry, period, I never need another caller again for the rest of my life. My FX5 Is flawless.

t/c223encore,

Have any of you guys owned a powerdog? I have one and it's great. Sure you get more sounds with a foxpro (which I also have) but then you aren't spending 200 dollars either, My remote easily reaches 100 yards. I've had mine for 4 years now and never had a problem. Dunno mabye I just got lucky. I got the foxpro because I'm always upgrading. I like the fact that you can get a big variety of sounds. This predator hunting has turned into a serious addiction for me. That's why I'm up to 4 AR's now I guess. I've called coyotes with simple 10 dollar mouthcalls and both of my eletronic calls. It's just what you want to invest I guess. Anyway just my two cents.

for a few more bucks you could get the flextone er1 game call! i have one and although i have been extremely sic with bronchitis i have not been able to test on yotes. but it has over 100 sounds and the sound is great

Last year I purchased a Power Dog from Bass Pro. Drove two hours home and tried it out. It didn't work regardless of what I tried. I took it back the same afternoon. Bass Pro asked if I'd like to replace it with another Power Dog. I said "sure". They brought out a new one. I told them I want to see it work before I leave the store and drive another 2 hours home. They said "sure". The second one didn't work worth a dang either. They returned my money and I eventually purchased a FoxPro Spitfire. (I've never had any problems with the Spitfire and should have went that route in the first place.) I'm not sure if I just got a hold of a bad batch of Power Dog units or they could have been damaged while being shipped to Bass Pro. (Who knows?) However, I'll never waste my time on a Power Dog in the future. I was really disappointed that Randy Anderson would put his stamp of approval on what I feel is a piece of junk. I might have gotten the only two in the entire United States that didn't work, but it was enough to turn me off from Power Dog forever. Just my 2 cents.

I bought a Power Dogg when I was just getting into calling cause at the time I couldnt justify spending for a FoxPro. I have had success with the Power Dogg but in my opinion it is ok at best. Once I became hooked I bought a Fury.

Good Luck,
Gabe

I wouldn't be too hard on Randy, the stamp of approval is for the highest bidder. That is why Patrick Flanigan now shoots for Mossberg, and Tom Knapp, shoots for CZ-USA. Money talks.

No, I didn't take it that way at all. I just meant he probably didn't have a lot of say. Once Primos took over I'm sure things changed and he's in a lot of catch 22 situations.

I have a powerdogg that I got last year for christmas last year and honestly I have never been vary happy with it.Have called in one coyote with it thats it.Have had better luck with hand calls.I have never got the remote to work past 40 yards. And alot of times you set it on one call and it might play something else.I dont know maybe I got a bad one but there will be a foxpro firestorm coming soon and if anyone wants it.It will be for sale real cheap.

I am with Stanly on this one ,,,i Know Will Primos since there office isnt far from me and hunt a place next door to where i hunt,, He has done alot for the hunting world, but he is ,, lets just say a BUTT to work for and be around for very long.

So i dont think Randy had alot of choice in that one.
