Probably already answered before NV/thermal question

So I been thinking long and hard over the past several years about dropping the coin on NV or thermal. The problem has always been why have a weapon mount rig but not a scanning rig thus meaning double the price. In recent days I have been on the search again and came up with what seems like a good solution. However I don’t know of anyone who deals with or has NV or thermal around my area that I can try out to see what I like so through some reading this is what I come up with. For scanning I had my eye on the pulsar rxq30v that could double as a weapon mount if I do chose. For permanent weapon mount I was looking at the pulsar phantom gen 3 3x50.

Anyone running these sights or know of a better combo for around $5000? Also I should mention I live in Indiana hunting only coyotes in any terrain from open fields to thick woods.

Also I had heard that thermal may not pick up coyotes with a think winter coat as well. any truth to this?

Hunt in ND and coyote pelts don't get a whole lot heavier. It should not be an issue. Of course, there are parts of the coyote that are easier to see such as the head due to more heat.

Blake, The only issue that I see with your thoughts is that the Pulsar Core RXQ30V is being phased out. We've been told by Pulsar that if we don't already have it on a purchase order, we can't order any more. Might be a tough thermal to find now. Just keep that in mind. We can get the FLIR PTS233 and Pulsar Helions or Trail XQ30 still.

Someone does not know what they are talking about.

Why so soon? They haven't been out very long.

Sounds like I better act fast on the Core RXQ30V. Sounds like a great product with a lot of great features to make it pretty versatile and a good price.

Dont chince out on the thermal. Get all the helion you can afford and maybe a nemesis qs to shoot with. I scan with a quantum xd19a and shoot with an xp50. I never want to look through my handheld after looking through the xp50. Guys will go cheap only to want more. If your gonna get in the game do it right and it is much more enjoyable. Im yet to see anyone regret getting the good stuff.

I can stress enough get the good stuff 1st time around. Otherwise you loose money dumping it when you realize you want more.
My xd19a does the job and has the big fov but the xp50 Trail clarity spoils me.

We really have no idea at this point. My hope is that they are releasing something better in the same price point and are focusing on that instead but that's all complete speculation. One can hope though!!!

I ordered a pulsar core RXQ30V to get me started. Everything I have read on it says its great. Seems like it fits what I’m looking for. From here I need to see if I need another thermal or a gen3 scope

Blake, let us know how the scope works out and your thoughts about it after putting it to the test.

Had an rxq30. Anything past 175 yards on a coyote was tough. If your hunting hogs it's probably fine. Sub $2000 you get more night vision for the money than thermal in my experience. If your budget is $5000 you really should have bought a xp50 for helion for spotting and then bought a nemesis to shoot. Just my opinion if I had $5k to spend .

I have a field review on the rxq30 on here.

Varminter 223 and I are in Illinois. I have a 4x nemesis, 6x nemesis, xq23v and Varminter 223 has some thermal and a photon. We can't night hunt in Illinois until November. If you have us over to hunt think of all the equipment you could test drive. He killed 50 last year and I killed 12 so we might even seem like we know what we ate doing hahaha
