Ill be traveling to Texas in a month and have always wanted to try hog hunting. Is there any public land around or the DFW area or even Amarillo that can be accessed for a quick hunt and w/out having to pay a fortune for a private ranch hunt... especially for a feral species? I know that public land is a rare thing in Texas but a one day hog hunting license is cheap and cant be passed on.

there is a ton of Caddo LBJ national grasslands in wise county neaR Decatur TX. to my knowledge it is still free access, but it is archery, black powder or shotgun only and a hunting license is required. Follow all laws and bilaws to a Tee, they are strictly enforced.

You can also hunt on Corps of Engineer land on the west end of Grapevine lake. You will need to purchase a Corps permit. I'm not sure what types of weapons can be used anymore, but it used to be archery and shotgun only for pigs.
