Question about wolf management/law???

Yeah NONYA, the same thing happened over here. I saw wolves several times and reported it. I was told by biologists I didn't see them, but I was seeing coyotes. Give me a break, I've more wolves in Canada and Alaska than these guys will see in ten lifetimes. The wolves were here long before this stupid reintroduction program started. They should have just left them alone and they would have reintroduced themselves. But, who I am to tell these johnny upstarts anything. I was treated like I was some ol'duffer who didn't know anything. Like I've said, this insane wolf policy is going to bite them right where it counts someday. I don't bother telling them anything anymore. Most (not all) of these guys are part of what I call the "know it all" generation. Frankly, I'm glad I'm getting to be a "old guy".

They wernt hearings they were written and either sent via mail or email, read some of the comments in each section, you will find a plethera of common sense that will never surface in the managment plan.
http://fwp.mt.gov/wildthings/wolf/commentsummary.html#how
Comments from the work sessionsand from written and E-mail correspondence--were entered and summarized in their own individual data files, but with an identical file structure. The comments recorded on flip charts during the community work sessions were entered verbatim into an Access database, although spelling and grammar were corrected upon entry. Each comment was assigned a unique record number by the computer through Accesss autonumber function.

Upon receipt, each written comment or E-mail comment was assigned a unique number manually using a traditional stamp and ink pad system. All the emails were printed and filed with the other written comments."

Greg,we just blew it off as educated arrogance until we lost 2 steers in 2 weeks, then we tried to make contact with the higher ups in the Federal F&G dept, all we had to do was mention the word wolf and you would hit a stone wall, finally they sent a biologist out to look at what was now nothing but scattered bones, from these remnants the genius was able to determine that our steers had been killed by grizzly bears and then eaten by yotes,5 generations of my family have never seen a bear within 50 miles of that ranch let alone a grizz, and the pack of wolves my grandfather jumped off the first carcass were just big coyotes, again his education allows him to see through the ignorance of a man who grew up on the land and whos father was a wolf trapper/hunter for the US govt.Once we started hearing about thier new reintroduction program everything started to make sense, deny any reports of wolves so they could get support for the program. To date we have lost 10 and possibly 11 head of cattle,we dont even bother reporting them to the feds anymore,if you dont have video of them on the kill or making the kill you dont have a chance of getting restitution,i guess we are supposed to travel out there every day and keep track of thier pets for them.

And all the hard working people that have lost livestock and dont have enough "proof" to meet the requirments for federal restitution continue to loose out,and people wonder why there are cases where laws are broken,in my opinion the govt is stealing from the ranchers that end up feeding thier pets. There used to be a pro-wolf group that actually made an effort to repay people who lost livestock and pets to wolves without the 3rd degree that the feds require, but after the feds started shooting some of the problem wolves they suspended the program, why i dont know.I saw a list of animals the program had paid for one time and it was quite a list.Ill try to find it...

Frankly, myself and many others are getting sick of the wolf discussions. I'm tired of folks with educations being labled as fools who know nothing. I'm tired of the government being blamed for everything. I'm tired of all the complaining. I'm tired of the BS that seems to fly back and forth on this subject. I'm tired of hearing the same old song over and over and over! There is more information about wolves, both pro and con, on the internet than most of you guys care to read. I haven't looked, but I'm sure there are websites and forums set up just for the very purpose of fighting over wolf introduction and population expansion. My suggestion, for those of you who want to discuss this subject until the cows come home, find another place to do it. Better yet, create your own website that is absolutely free for all who care to join. Run it off of donations and advertising. Let me know when you get 10,000 + members and over a million hits.

PM is not a place for you to complain and moan. I do not have that kind of personality and I won't allow it in the forum I moderate.

What does all my rambling mean? It means I'm going to lock this topic. We're getting very tired of the wolf issue here at PM. This dead horse has been kicked way too often.

Also, I will quickly do the same to any future wolf thread that goes down the same road.
