Question.... How much does it cost to get a FFL so you can buy and sale guns ? also do you have to have a store front business or can you be a gun seller / dealer out of your home ? Also how long of wait time before you get your lic ? Thanks. Martyd

The cost is $150 every three years.

Look here for some of the info and call you local ATF office for help. Hearsay info on the internet will just get you in trouble.

I had one for 10 years, I had a shop attached to my home.

Anyone that charges you to help get an FFL is pretty much a scam. It isn't very hard to do, you just have to jump through all the hoops they ask you to and don't try and buck the system, they hold ALL the cards.

I think that will depend upon local government. There is a guy here that got turned down due to a city ordanance against certain businesses run out of a home. Gun dealer was one of them. Anyway, he is supposedly taking the city to court.

Best advice is to speak directly with your local atf branch.

Dealers have to have storefronts, gunsmiths - who can also sell guns - can operate from the home AS LONG AS LOCAL ZONING AND ORDINANCE ALLOWS IT.

At least that's how it was while I had mine, and seems to be the same as I've been looking to re-up for next year.

The Form 7 lists Dealer/smith as $200, not $150.

i know 2 people that were denied by the atf, another that says he lost his ffl, all stating the same reason by the atf. no storefront no bueno. But who knows, it didn't happen directly to me. I had a c&r for a while, got better deals on midway type places with an ffl log in. I got my monies worth.

When I had mine in my home a separate entrance, dedicated room and designated hours qualified me as a store-front. I also had a state business license. There were no city or county restrictions.

One of the guys I do business with has his shop in his living room, dedicated hours and a separate entrance and qualifies as a store-front
