Here is a huge tip for live trappers.....don't put the bait in the trap . Find the location for the trap , then move it to the side and dig a small indentation for the bait and place the trap over it. Now the animal can't reach if from the side and get to the bait , you don't have to reach into the trap to place the bait or rebait. The big advantage is the animals can't pick up the bait and leave....they have to reach right down through the tripping device to get to it and greatly increases your chance of a catch. A small plastic bowl works great and your traps aren't covered with smelly baits and are clean to handle. Also , the bait is less visible and reduces chances for birds (crows ect ) from entering and springing the trap. When you move your set , just lift the trap , grab the bowl and move to another site...no loss of bait or time. SM
