Racoons Without Dogs

Im planning on taking my kid and his friend out tommorow night to shoot some racoons, but I havent had a coon hound since my teens and dont know anyone in this part of the state that does. Im going to be hunting in some thick florida scrub and pines, and my son wants to try and take one with a bow. What would be the best way to go about this? Baiting, spotlighting, calling, which would be the best. Im going to be hunting near a neighborhood, (Its legal I checked) so I dont want my foxpro tricking someone into thinking something is being murdered back there. Can you guys give any suggestions on how to hunt them without dogs?

Your in Fl.. .it's Flat. Just walk the fields making an ocasional "Brakkkkkkk" sound to get their attention.. walk to the tree they are in and Kill as you see fit.

I believe that some of the available sounds are quite good for Racoons. Coon puppies maybe? I am not sure what the sound was but I have read where they have had them running in with it. I have not tried it yet but was going to next year.

Find water with frogs and minnows and you'll find coons.
Take a low power light or a red/amber lense cover and spotlight for them in trees. There are several coon squallers out there that will make them look at you. Avoid going on a moonlit night. There should be a local coon hunting club, ask around I'm sure someone will let you and your kid tag along. Good Luck.
Baby coons are called kittens, around here anyway.
