Does anybody load TAC in their .223 AR's? Any good recipes you can give me?

I've loaded nothing but Benchmark and H335 in 223's for some time now, with good results. A certain gun scribe has recommended I try TAC. Thanks for your help......

I got this right from Ramshot: We suggest our TAC powder.

Bullet weight: 60grains

START load: 22.0grains (2775-2875Fps)

Maximum load: 24.5grains (3100-3200Fps)

Thank you Johan. I recognize your screen name but did not realize you worked for Western.

I just received a PM recommending 24.4gr with the 60gr V-max. I'm gonna try it.

Do you guys have any manuals available, other than the on line stuff, for Ramshot powders?

Thanks....

Yeah i was wondering the same thing,I just printed off their load guide..

Edit,I just rechecked the Ramshot web site a guy can call 1-800-497-1007 or e-mail powder@midrivers.com to recieve a loading guide.

TAC Rocks! Love the heck outa this stuff lemme tell you. I use it under 55grn Hornadys- 26.2 grns and its great.
Cheap- burns clean and meters very well. Whats not to love?

2MG...

I've been shooting 25.5 TAC under a 60 Vmax for a bit now. It perks big time.

2.25" and a BR4 in R-P hulls...

Ramshot's guide is very safe IMHO. I had zero pressure signs up to 26.0 but 25.0-25.8 perked big time so I settled on 25.5.

I really like TAC a lot. I get better groups with TAC coupled with light bullets versus the heavier ones though. Thats in both a 1:10 and 1:9 rifle. Benchmark seems to give me better results with the 60 Varminters. In fact AWESOME groups with the 60's

I keep TAC around the house in 8 Lb jugs to feed the AR15s. You should try it with a 69 grain Sierra MatchKing in your's. They don't explode vermin like the 60 VMAX but they work really well at longer yardages and kill yotes better than they should. I've never had an 1:9 AR that didn't like TAC with the 69's. It also works awesome with the 77's if you've got a 1:7 twist.

With the 60 grain and under stuff, I like their other powder Xterminator better. Its a little faster burning. In carbines and lighter weight pills (60 on down) it reduces muzzle flash and gives up less FPS than TAC.

Western Powders definately ain't your grampa's ball powder /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The Ramshot guys do give out a free brochure with loads listed. I think I got one by emailing from their website. It lists some options that are not commonly listed elsewhere. My last supply of TAC I ordered through Midway. While at it I also got some Blackhorn 209 since it comes from the same co & one hazmat fee. I may try some X-terminator since I mostly shoot lighter bullets. I will say in my limited testing TAC is much cleaner than the old standby of H335.

2MG,

I just started loading TAC for a couple of 223's, but only for 50 grain bullets. I ran off the pages from Ramshot's web site to get loads.
