RANT about FX3 purchase

I goofed! I saw a last minute deal on an FX3 on ebay. It only had a few minutes left on it and was only a little over a hundred bucks. I saw it said it was new and went ahead and bid $225, even though it had $40 shipping. Well I won it for $202 plus the $40 shipping....Then noticed it didn't come with a remote /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif I inquired about how it was "new" but didn't come with a remote and they said it was in the "factory packaging". I received it yesterday. It was wrapped in bubble wrap but no box, the instructions were photocopies, and the serial number on the instructions didn't match the serial number of the unit. I also couldn't find a list of the sounds on the unit. I plugged in the USB cable and found out that the only sound on the unit was a siren. The siren was on position number 1 and 31. Now I'm faced with sitting on an unusable caller until I can afford a remote and sounds or trying to sell it and probably taking a loss. Moral of the story. If it's cheaper than normal, something is wrong, investigate closely.
 
That sucks. If you can't get resolution through ebay, go to varmint al's site and download his sounds for free to get you by for a while. Use it as a handheld call and make due until you can afford to get a remote and buy some of the premium foxpro sounds. Important thing is that you learned from this and make sure to give the seller their due in their seller reviews. You might check with Foxpro and see how much the FX-5 upgrade would be while you're at it. You already need a remote, might be worth the trouble /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif.
 
If you go to FOXPRO's website you can download the "FOXPRO Programmer" software and load your own sounds.

There are lots of sounds available online for free. Using the caller without remote isn't that bad a deal but I understand wanting it and the limitations.

That's a rotten deal for you. I actually saw that auction... It is a little misleading but does say the remote is missing. It doesn't say the box or instruction manual is from the factory either. I can see how you could easily have jumped on that given the short time before the auction was ending! Again, I'm sorry for your heartache on this one... I feel your pain as I've done that before, too.

You should be able to pick up a remote for that fairly reasonably if you look around. Load some new sounds on it and go calling!

Edit: I forgot about the FX5 upgrade... that's about $200 dollars but it does come with the newer TX-200 remote!

Thanks to all for the input. I've going through paypal to see about getting the $$ back. If that doesn't work I'll probably just hold onto it until I can get a refurbished remote from foxpro.
 
Foxpro must have a bunch of FX3 remotes left over from people who upgraded to FX5. The FX5 remote is completely different. Give 'em a call, they may surprise you.

There is a guy on Arkansas Predator Hunters that has a remote for sale. I left a reply on his post that you're looking for one..
 
I know how the Dillons are and i have no doubt they would give this guy a remote free of charge.No other company would do it , call -------, Ohhh wait no one will answer LOL. call ---- he will call you some kinda bad name and tell you your a moron for even suggesting such a thing. post a thread and tell us your situation and a foxpro fieldstaff member who has a extra remote says" email me

I wish i had posted on here when i bought a fx5 of ebay and i recieved a empty field and stream bag last year and ebay and paypal done nothing about it bar delay everything i did until the claim time had run out....... pr#@#
