Hi guys. After seeing some of the excellent camo jobs on this site, I decided to try it myself. I didn't want to totally destro my new AR, so I decided to use my ancient Remington 870 as a guinea pig. Please let me know what you think....

Looks Great! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif You just raised the value of that Rem 870 for sure. Now I double dog dare you to paint your AR. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

9.9 - 9.9 - 9.9 - 10.0 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

It would be straight 10.0's if your name was camo'ed in there like the trade marked patterns.

Looks great... don't set it down while your hunting you might not be able to find it. Been think about doing a paint job on my old 870. Can you give more details on how it was done. Thanks

Sure can....sorry for the lack of pics, but I couldn't find my camera until my wife got home (after I was done). I used the Wal-Mart Krylon Camo paint. I used Black, Green, and Tan. I first used denatured alcohol to clean the whole gun, and remove the oil. Then I used a little steel wool to scuff it up. I then painted the entire gun using light, even coats, with green camo paint. I then used a cedar branch for the pattern. I just painted over the cedar branch using the tan and the black paint. It's really quite simple. If you mess up, just paint the spot you messed up, and repaint using a different color. I wish I could give more details, but really...it's that easy.

That looks great!
That is wild man. My first shotgun was the same 870 in College. Loaned it to a guy who gave it back to me 4 months later, and the barrel was red rust, and the receive was pitted rust.
I only use it for home defense now,so its not a big deal. My idea was to try camo painting it,for pratice before doing my future AR-15. Same as you.
I did a lot of reading and think Im going with DuraCoat. It seems to be the best because it holds up long term. Let me know how your paint stays on. Your method is a lot less expensive than the DuraCoat paint for sure.
Thanks
