RCBS 10-10

What do you have now, and how much is the 10-10, and what electronic scale are you considering?

Keep in mind that many of the electronic scales are not accurate, they drift and have to be recalibrated, and do not have the great lifetime guarantee that the manual 10-10 scale has.

I have owned five electronic scales and only one (Lyman 1000) was good enough to weigh powder with and I use it to load at the range - the other four were poor and unreliable. I kept the Dillon Eliminator to sort cases, but I would never weigh powder with it. I returned the other three within weeks of purchasing them.

I have the 5-10 now. Lookin to upgrade to either 10-10 or Chargemaster. I have heard a couple of horror stories about electronics and just needing some feedback on the subject.

That is a nice scale - do you have money burning a hole in your pocket?

The Chargemaster is a big piece of change, and unless you load a lot of cases that use stick powder, it might not be the wisest place for your burning money.

Do you use a decent powder measure, like a Redding or equivalent?

Nothing to apologize for - I DID say equivalent! RCBS makes a good powder measure.

If your 5-10 is working good, like it should...

seems to me the big advantage of the 10-10 over the 5-10 would be if you needed to weigh more than 510 grains.

otherwise they are very similar in how them function.

What is your demand, or loading requirements?

I guess precise is the word I'm lookin for. Maybe Cat is right and money burner might be another word. Do any of you all use a 5-10 or equilvilant?

Yes I use two different beam scales. 5-10 being one of them. If you have scale weights to calibrate the scale then the beam will be the most accurate for the money. If you set up with a powder thrower[measure] with a beam scale, you will be efficient enough, or at least that set up works for me.

I've had a Pact Precision electronic since they 1st came on the market. It's always been reliable and accurate. I check it often with check weights. GO electronic and you'll wonder why you have put it off for so long. I do have a RCBS 5-10 and it's stowed away in a drawer should ever I need to load but have no electricity. Faster, you can weigh bullets, cases, or loaded rounds. Let the electronic scale warm up for about 1/2 hour and mine only drifts should the temperature of the room go up or down during long sessions. Put the electronic scale on a separate table, not your bench, to avoid vibrations. Get a set of check weights just to give you confidence that it's accurate. If my electronic scale dies tomorrow I'll order another tomorrow night!

I've had a 5-0-5 and a 10-10 set up side-by-side and they both were equally accurate and settled out equally fast.

I sold the 5-0-5 on the board here.

The only advantage you'll see is the added range the 10-10 has (assuming your 5-10 isn't damaged).
That cover the 10-10 has is nice, too, but you could build one for your 5-10 cheaper than what you'll pay upgrading.

I use the 5-10 and perfectly happy with it. I too went the electronic scale route a couple of times. Some guys swear by them. I kept mine for a very short time. Didn't trust them.

I am still using my 5-10 that was the first scale I ever bought. It is a great scale. Have tried several electronics and always end up back to the old 5-10.

If I got my facts correct RCBS does not make the 10-10 scale it is made by Ohause a well know maker of precision scales.

I have 2 10-10's and one 5-0-5 or what ever it is, all work great, what can make them go bonkers is if the knife blade / Pivot gets a ding in it.

A un-level bench can make a difference also.
