I have one, and I love it. Its fairly fast, and very accurate. If it overthrows a charge it will show up. I have not had any problems with it. The only thing I don't like about it is trying to remove all the powder from the tube when I'm done. I have to tip mine forward everytime to accomplish this.

Try emptying the hopper first, then set it for a charge weight of 60 or more grains of powder. Leave the dump shute open, with your container under it,and push the dispence button (more powder will come out of it)while it's trying to throw the last charge. Soon no more powder will come out of the auger, push the stop/cancel button, empty the charge pan into your container, and your done! Ron

I have one. Like it, but I have had to send it back to RCBS for repairs twice.

The new Hornady intrigues me. Seems very simple to use.

I have had one a couple years and really like it. I have had zero problems and the scale seems to be very accurate (I hand trickle loads for load work up). I wish they were available years ago before i bought all the stuff that the Chargemaster has replaced.

I've got one and love it. The electric one doesn't work when the power is out, so I still have my old measure and scale as a backup.

I must be doing something wrong! That's the one thing I don't like about it is that sometimes, especially with large extruded powders, it will dump a big clump of powder at the very end of the trickle stage and it doesn't show up on the scale. It just beeps to let you know it's done. If I see it happen than I can weigh it on a beam scale to check it and sometimes it's a heavy charge. PITA!

That's why I don't use it much anymore. I just don't trust it.

I have had one for the last 4 yrs and love it. I have place a short length of a drinking straw that just fits inside of the discharge tube and it rally helps on the accuracy of the extruded powders and also the other powders.

Well, I ordered one last night so I guess I'll see what it can do. It's got to be faster than just using my RCBS Trickler and Frankford Arsenal digital scale. Thanks for all the reviews!

If you wait a couple of seconds after it beeps the scale will pop up again and give you the real reading.

The emptying of the auger tube is what I have problem/s with. When done the only way I've found to completely empty it is to tilt the whole unit forward while its trying to throw a load. I'm always afraid this will somehow damge it.

If you get a couple of stubborn grains, as it's running I will take the brush they sent with it and just barely tap on the top of the auger.

SeanE,

Like mentioned earlier, after draining the large hopper on the side, set your charge for 60 or so. It will spin on high speed until empty. Then hit stop or cancel.

Funny I seen this post today. Called RCBS yesterday and one of their techs walked me through speeding up my machine a bit. It is really nice once you get use to it.

Also your directions will tell you how to set it up to start throwing a new charge as soon as you place the pan on the scale and it zero's out. No pushing buttons everytime.

I still check a few on the beam scale now and then, even after using it several years. It rarely throws a charge over a tenth off.

I've had one for a while now and absolutely love it.

To fix the overcharge problem with stick powders like Varget, take a McDonald's straw, cut off a 1/2" piece of it, and put the piece inside the end of the powder dispenser spout. The smooth surface will keep the powder from piling up.

I did this and have yet to throw an overcharge since.

I also reprogrammed mine to dispense a bit faster, but it's really not fast enough to warrant going through the process IMO.

I also empty the hopper first and then close it. I then set it to throw a 200 grain charge and dispense, this way it will run continuously until the tube is empty. As stated it will dispense the large majority if not all of what's left in the feed tube. When no more powder comes out I stop it and rotate the opening of the feed tube facing down and blow thru the tube, if there is anything left in there it gets blown back into the hopper which I open again to make sure it's empty. That has worked really well for me.

P.S. If you still don't feel like you can trust it and can't live with it, I'll give ya $50 for it...

I have had one for 3 years or so and really liked it until it took a crap..Now for some reason when you push the numbers to set the weight of charge to be dispensed it reads a wrong number.. for example when you push 7 it might say 9 or another number... I need to call RCBS and ask them what they can do for me...

terrance, Thats a good idea with the straw..If I get mine working again I will give that a try..

I must be to quick on the draw. I'll give a try tonight. Thanks for the heads up.
