Which company do you think makes better quality reloading equipment, RCBS or Redding-referring to the rockchucker and big-boss press. Thanks.
 
I don't know Redding, so I'll just comment on RCBS. I have an RCBS Rock Chucker 2 and mostly RCBS dies and tools. Just awesome, awesome, awesome. I got the Chucker2 since I load a belted magnum; it's actually kinda overkill for loading lite stuff like 223, 222, etc. You lose some sensitivity. (I've ripped a few bases due to bad lube.) But that notwithstanding, the quality of the tools just can't be touched.

I will have to agree with Swift on the press and dies. I have a Rockchucker that is 30 yrs old and still going. I much prefer the Redding Dies and BR powder measure for sure.
 
One tough question. I have been using both RCBS and Redding for many years. My preference is Redding presses and RCBS dies. But then I have almost 45% Redding dies. The other 55% is 45% RCBS and 10% also-runs (Hornady & Lyman). Powder measures is a toss up. Both are quality products with great customer service.
 
Can't comment on the RCBS press but I really like my Boss press. The only complaint I have is the funky primer catcher.

I have completely switched to redding dies for all my calibers.
 
Hey tonlocus, if you think the primer catcher is funky on the Boss press you should see the piece of junk RCBS has on the Rockchucker Supreme. The darn thing looks like a inverted "Y", snaps in and out(which can create a mess if you've got a lot of primers in it and try and pop if loose), it sticks up so high you always bump it backwards when your putting a case in, then some spent primers just drop on the press and miss it altogether.

I've talked to RCBS twice about it and they tell me they haven't got any complaints about it, it works just fine. Hey, I've complained twice now.

I use mostly Redding dies, but Forster Ultramicrometer Seaters for me.
 
Ole just bought a Rockchucker Supreme and I will call and log another complaint....it is my only complaint but the primer catcher is a joke. By the time you snap the thing off you are lucky if you haven't scattered spent primers all over hxll and back.
Otherwise great press with plenty of room to size about anything..............
 
i've used one Rockchucker for 30 years and never wanted a change. i use mostly RCBS with some Redding dies. Both brands are excellent so get what is better priced on dies. Bobby

both companies make outstanding products that have good warranties...you cannot go wrong with either.
 
I've beem using an RCBS Rockchucker for 32 years now. Never have had a problem with it. Heavy duty will reload about anything you want except maybe a 50 BMG. I picked up a used RCBS Junior it's in the same class it just doesn't have as much leverage. It is used for smaller and pistol cases. As for dies RCBS are good quality dies with the great backing of RCBS warranty. I do like the Redding "S" dies over them though. For my bench rest and other high accuracy loads I'm using Wilson dies. That would be for .222, .223, 22-250 and 6PPC.
 
Well it can't be as bad as a square plastic cup with a magnet on the bottom that you have to slip right next to the ram in order to catch anything at all. Even then it misses half of the danged things.
 
Have been using RCBS and Redding for years, am now swithcing over to Redding, especially in the dies catagory. I have taken a dislike to the RCBS dies since they have changed the lock ring. Either are good and will give good service. I have an original RockChucker that is as old as I am, but am ordering as of yesterday the Redding T-7 Turret Press. I have a total of 6 presses including a Dillon.

By far, the Redding dies are beyond great. JOHN
 
I replaced the RCBS lock rings with Forster split rings, they don't have a set screw to force the die off center. Now I'm looking for a better seating die than the standard RCBS. Leaning toward the Forster competition seaters. Anybody have an opinion on them?
 
I use mostly redding dies, esp. the button type neck dies, and like the forster seaters best. This is what I use on my most accurate rifles. The deer rifles and such, just redding dies sets.

I use Redding competition Dies for .308 and .223, just make sure that if you use a Competition Seating Die, don't use any coated bullets. Tollerances are that close...JOHN /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
