I was taking some 17 rem ammo apart and the top blew apart. The round hit me in the right shoulder and the chuck flew apart. Haven't found all of the chuck yet. Any body know if I can get a new cap? I looked, but I can only find replacement chucks.

I had a hammer type puller for years. I broke two of em.. I bought a Hornaday Cam Loc puller and life is good..

I broke several also before I bought a hornady cam-lock puller. Get one you'll be happy you did.

Those impact pullers are dangerous. I am surprised that the makers haven't been sued out of producing them?

The collet type pullers work so well, why risk injury with an impact one??????????

Like others have said, get a collet type bullet puller. Much faster and safer than the hammer type. Once you try one, you will never go back.

The collet type are better and safer but, I find them difficult to use at the range. I've been carrying and using an inertia type for over 20 years and never had a problem.

I'm not surprised - the light weight of the 17 cal bullets doesn't help matters. Seems inertia needs mass to work properly. I've had great experiences pulling heavier bullets (50 gr & up) and lousy experiences pulling the lightweights with the inertia type pullers.

Heh, I had to unload about 50 .223's a while back. I've been a gym rat for years, and before I had 1/2 of them done my shoulder and arm was screaming

I still haven't gotten a better puller but those light bullets are a total PITA to beat apart. And God help you if you crimp

Yeah, same here.Been using the same hammer type puller for around 35 years and it still does what I want it do. If it ever breaks I may look into a different kind of puller, but I do try to make up loads that I wont have to be taking back apart anyway.

It's those light weight 17/22 cal bullets with so much contact area. You have to bash those things horribly hard to unseat the bullets.

RCBS really will take care of you. Ive had them replace a few dies, a 505 scale, primer feed parts for my Rock Chucker, all for free and you can speak to a person without jumping through a million hoops. Alec

In my experience, you need to get to about 25 caliber before an inertia puller will work reliably. I bought a Hornady cam lock puller and am well satisfied.
