RCBS Trim mate vs Lyman case prep center

I have the RCBS Trim Mate and really like it. Works good for me. I just took a look at the Lyman unit (never used one) and it looks pretty good also.

I think either one would serve you well.

If all you are going to do is trim, champher and debur, get the RCBS trimmer with 3 way head. Take the crank handle off and chuck the shaft into your 1/2 inch electric drill. Now you have a power trimmer that does all three. If you are going to use the RCBS to swage the primer pocket on military brass, you are better off getting the Dillon product.

I have the trim master and, after getting the three way head, have put it in the closet.

I have my RCBS Trim Mate set up to trim to length, champfer the inside and outside of the necks and to debur the flash holes.

I do all of my brass prepping on a TV tray while I am watching sports on the TV.

Never tried the Lyman but I've got the RCBS Trim Mate and it works great. I use it to clean uniform my primer pockets, deburr and clean necks.

I bought the Lyman only because Midway had them on sale a few months ago. I also looked at RCBS's and they were a little more spendy. Plus the Lyman came with a few more attachments. As spoken above, I think they are both quality units. I was hesitant in getting one but now that I am reloading for my AR it saves alot of time.

I could have saved myself a lifetime of reloading if I had just done that first. HELLA lot better than all the other after steps of trimming. One of the best combos, for the price, out there IMHO.

I have the RCBS Prep center and it works great. I also have the RCBS Power trimmer, they both work great. Sorry no experience with Lyman.

Get the Dillon to remove the crimp. Once you get the hang of it, you can do 20 in a minute. I don't have the Lyman, but if it is any thing close to the trim mate, you will get sore hands real quick.

I have never been a friend of Lyman Products as they don't post a warrenty and feed back on there CS has never been positive. I bought the Lyman case prep from Sinclair for a sale price of 99.95. It will save me time on the bench as allthe bits are turning so I will not have to change out tools as with my hand held tool. As for the warrenty I look for Sinclair/Brownels to cover it.
