Hey guys,

I recently aquired a rifle that needs a new stock. It's a Remington 600 Mohawk. Will a short action Model 700 fit it or do I need to find a Model 600 one. Is the Mohawk also a different animal too? I'd like to find a nice wood stock. Any sugestions where to look. Thanks.

First of all congratulations on you recent acquisition! Remington 600, and 660,s are great rifle/actions.

What kind of stock are you looking for?

The 700 SA will not work. The 600/660 have a different screw spacing [ shorter].

I'm looking to put either a nice wood stock back on it or go with something a little more custom. She's been rebarreled to a .17 Mach IV and haven't qite figured out my vision for her yet.

you can look on Gun Broker. From time to time they will have 660 stock take off's. They are nice walnut with a black plastic fore-tip. Kinda of like the BDL.

Other than that, your looking at custom.

BTW, the magnum stock for the 600/660 is a nice blonde to walnut laminate.

I think a Rem. Model 7 stock would also work. I'm pretty sure that the model 7 action has the same footprint as the 600, and those are relatively easy to find (both new and used). A quick call to Stocky's would answer the question.
