Reasons for the 1:14 twist 22-250

So i decided to see what I could get out of a 22-250 and the barnes 30gr varmit grenades.

Ive got a touch over 4k with a 223 already but my barrel is a 1:8 twist and it's way over rpm for the bullet.

Bring in a 1:14 twist 22-250. 24" tikka varmit.

First powder was xterminator, velocity was all over the place, 100 fps swings, accuracy was not good either. Varget was the next option I had. That is the pixie dust. 4481 avg, sd are 4.4, group was .38"

Going after some varmits with a camera now!

I found nirvana when I dropped down from Varget to H-4895 in my 18 inch 12" twist 22x47 Lapua with 52 Bergers at 3800.
 
looks like it may work for you, you'll have to report back on the terminal effects and if you like how it performs

Oh crap brain lock up..... Oh yes expanding mandrel , yeah that's it did you try using that or just the normal expander ball in your sizing die? IDK if it would help you or not but just a thought. Although your Varget load looks to be the cat's meow for your setup which ever expander your using.

Both loads were made with the same rcbs basic 2 die set, set the same. The seater was adjusted from my prefered setting for loading my 55gr varmegedons.

And yes, I see no need to change anything with the current load if I continue to make them. We don't have praire dogs, and few woodchuck. Our main target of opportunity is pigeon. Not thinking this will be a fur friendly combo for fox either.
