rebarrel ruger 77/22 mag with Lilja 17HMR

Lilja has a stock barrel for the 77/22 they call a drop in barrel you can change your 22 mag to a 17 HMR. I'm very happy with my /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif 22 mag, but I was reading an article about this and was wondering if anybody else has done this.In the article they were tying to sell barrels /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif So if any one has done this I would be interested in hearing about it.

theres a bunch of guys on rimfire central that have been doing it for a couple of years cause the factory ruger 17hmr werent the best shots.

P.S.

As I mentioned in another post, I've really been very satisfied with every Ruger factory barrel I've ever owned. It's my opinion that most of the improvement comes from free floating the barrels and bedding the actions - not replacing the barrel with one from an aftermarket manufacturer.

If you really want to try a .17 HMR, there are plenty of factory take-offs floating around that you can pick up for relatively little.....

I know several guys who have replaced their stock Ruger rimfire barrels with Lilja barrels. In every case the Lilja barrel was considerably more accurate than the factory barrel.

I don't know if you get The Varmint Hunter magazine? There was an article several years ago about two guys using Ruger 17 HMR rifles for p-dog shooting. To get the accuracy they wanted they replaced the stock barrels with Lilja barrels and got fantastic accuracy.
