rebarreling a savage model 25 walking varminter

I have a savage model 25 walking varminter that I would like to rebarrel to 22k hornet or potentially another round I don't already own. Does anyone know who makes "drop-in" barrels for the model 25? Savage has the barrel for $169 but they require that I send the gun to them and that they do the rebarreling (total $225). Also, they only have 22 hornet and 17 hornet available. No point in paying them to rebarrel then take it apart to ream a new cartridge.
I've contacted a few popular barrel makers and have not had any luck, one even said it cannot be done (I disagree, but I have been wrong before). The barrel has a smooth lug and comes apart just like the savage 110. I already have it apart without issue.
I am wondering if there is an old model 25 that is built differently and that is why some say it cannot be done?
I will measure the threads tonight, but I was wondering if anyone had info on where I could get the barrel. In a perfect world I would get a slightly longer (24") "drop-in" barrel already chambered in the caliber I want. I would headspace and be ready to go.

This is my first post to this site, but I am a long time reader. Thanks for sharing all your insights for those of us who are fairly new to predator hunting.

I think you are going to be hard pressed to find a prefit for it. You will be better off to buy a blank and have a smith chamber and thread it to the action.
