Anyone have experience with a ret dot sight on a 12 mag.? Does anyone have one that they works well or one that did not. Hoping to find some good advise in the $200.00 range or less, Thanks, Dave
I use an Aimpoint 9000SC red dot on both my Benelli SBE 2 and Mossberg 835. They hold up to the heaviest recoil and get 50,000 hrs battery life. Only problem is the cost. Just from experience I know many of the cheaper red dots don't hold up to the harsh recoil of many predator/turkey loads. You get what you pay for when it comes to optics.
I have a TruGlo like the one linked below on a Benelli Supernova with a B-Square Saddle mount. I bedded the mount with Bedrock so it mounts up the same and doesn't shift around. Didn't want to spend the money to get my receiver D&T'd. Been through a lot of 3 and 3.5" buckshot and turkey loads for coyotes and deer. For the ranges I hunt, I haven't noticed any damage to it or shift in POI over ~6-7yrs now. I do wish it was a little more protected or robust, would love to justify a Speedbead, but like the head's up shooting style with this site and mount, and hard to justify Speedbead price when I have about $120 in this set up.
These look pretty interesting. Designed for AR, but I wonder how they would be on a shotgun. Looks like a LOT of scope for the money. Plus it has the right warranty behind it........
