Range report on the 16in. spiral fluted bull barrel, with free float handgaurd.
Put a Burris 2x7 on a PEPR mount. With loaded 20 round p-mag weighs pretty close to 8 pounds.
Cold and windy here today but had to get out and try it out.
My first time to fire an AR so started out with 20 rounds of steel case 55 grain Monarch, from 25 yards. Shot about 4 inches low and all 20 rounds stayed in about a 3 inch group.
Switched to 55 grain Remington UMC and started working on the scope. Pulled together very well and and very quick. Moved back to 50 yards and tweeked for about 10 rounds and then headed to 100 yards. Moved it over a few clicks to the right and was very pleased with the results.
I am very pleased with the barrel and the way it shoots, I am very confident in being able to get sub moa groups at 100 yards with better bench set up, less wind and maybe some better ammo. My buddy wanted me to try it at 200 yards so we gave it a whirl and had about a 3 inch 3 shot group. I was very suprised with that in the wind.
Overall I couldn't be more happy with my Red X upper. Fit, finish, and functions great. Looks pretty sweet too. Got it to kill coyotes and am very confident in being able to do that out to 200 yards.
Shot about a 100 rounds and only had one that didn't go bang, was shooting a bunch of ammo I inherited from my brother and it is a mix of all kinds of stuff. With one round the bolt didn't close all the way. (didn't think about the FA until I already manually ejected the round)Put it back in and it went bang.
Sorry for the long post but wanted to let everyone know about Red X. Got a pic of my rifle and a 55 yard 10 shot group if anyone wants to see I can email and maybe someone can get it on here.
