Redfield Revolution 4-12x40

I bit the bullet and ordered a Redfield 3-9 x 40 for my .308 Remington R25 from Opticsplanet. Can't wait to try it out! Now I probably need to upgrade my scope mount.

Rock River Arms has a new scope mount for ARs that looks good. Anyone have any experience with it? It is only 47 bucks!

If you are looking for a 4-12x40 with the accu plex reticle, let me save you a little time. There is not ONE in stock at any online distributor. I have placed orders at two different distributors and neither had any in stock all though one said they did. The other website does not mention whether any of their products are in or out of stock. Neither place, nor Leupold would give me any firm dates that one would be available. At any rate, I waited as long as I intended to to get a good scope for my new 223, so this evening I bought a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40SF. It is now mounted and boresighted, and my trigger finger is itching.

EDIT to say: There is one online source that has the scopes, and has them for a very low price but Leupold advised me against ordering from them because they are not an authorized dealer. Buy at your own risk was their advice.

I was looking at one of the Nikon BDCs and if I remember right the reticle got real heavy as you turned up the power, and I believe this was the reason I did not buy the scope. I also did not care for the lack of fine aiming point on the reticle.

PS JD what is that reticle in your picture out of.

Hope this helps
Aaron

It's from Gunblast.com in a review that they wrote of the new Redfield scope. So this is the "Accu Plex" reticle they're offering.

I am anxious to see what some actual hunters have to say about the new Redfields. I wouldn't have ever owned another of their old products. I took two shots with a contender in 7-30 Waters years ago and destroyed one of their old scopes.I hope that they come up with a good product, as their price point seems tempting.

white feather....looks like you'll be gettin lots of feedback on'em soon...i'm considering two 2x7's for some carbines in 358 & 284.
you anywhere close to blue eye?

Well, I just made the order for mine. I opted to stick with the 4plex reticle rather than trying out the "accu-plex" reticle. Hope to get it mounted on the Tikka next week! What really sold me on giving one a try was the generous eye relief, and the compact length and weight. I think this will compliment the Tikka nicely.

Comments? They say a pic is worth a thousand words....

My advice? go with the Accurange reticle...

I bought the Redfield last year with the 4plex and it has been a good scope for the price and I don't like circles covering my target either...so 4plex for me anyway. I really haven't put enough rounds through my AR with this scope yet so from what it was intened for it has been a good scope.

i just got the 4-12x40 this week. got it on Ebay, the price was very good for a leupold made scope. i've shot it a bit and so far i like the optics, eye relief is good and eye position is generous. it zeroed very quickly. i'm very happy with it.
don

I just found the model 67110 4-12x40 on ebay for 179.50 shipped.
I called the number provided and the lady said ebay sales person would be there at eight in the morning.
Ebay ad says three in stock, I just called to verify stock.
Im going to call back tomorrow and will probaly order if they have it.
Anyone know a cheaper place to buy ?

I have a Redfield from 35 years ago that sits on my elk rifle. I would have bought a new Redfield for my new 17 Remmy that I got a month ago, but I don't like the accu-plex reticle. All the Redfields I looked at had that reticle. Ended up getting a good deal on a Bushnell Elite 3200. Hard scope to beat, so if the Redfield is better, as according to Steve Timm, I would be very impressed. I loved the Redfields of yesteryear. That is what the snipers used in Vietnam.

I didn't know about the Accu Plex, until now... wow... I really like it... what a combo...4-12x40.... cost 200.00...

For those of you that get your hands on one soon, I'd love to get your impression of the reticle. Is it as bold, and prominent as it appears?

Here's what I'm talking about for those of you that haven't seen it:

Nothing wrong with this reticle that i can see. 10 (maybe 11) stadia points that can be used for downrange zeroing, windage reference and rangefinding about as well as anything else out there short of a tree reticle system that gives a more direct system of windage reference.

I took my Bush 4200 Elite off my 270 & mounted the 4-12 Revolution on it & have been covering the same hole ever since. Really a nice scope. I like the accurange, works for me. Like plane old cross hairs too, but thought I'd give this gizmo a go, just the same...
