Redfield Revolution 4-12x40

Hi folks!

Been searching for glass to put on top of my newly acquired Remmy LVSF that is chambered in .17 Rem & was wondering if this particular model might fit the bill? I think for a $250 price range, this scope might be hard to beat. I wanna keep my rig as light as possible & this scope weighs in at 13 ounces. Pretty lightweight for the 4-12 power range that it offers! I would probably opt for the standard plex reticle and am curious if it is a nice bold, easy to see reticle? I don't like them too fine. I have never had the oppurtunity to look through one of these. The length of the scope is 12", which should be a good fit for on top of the LVSF. Plan to put it in some Talley Lightweights.

Let me know if you think I'd be wasting my time & money going with the Redfield ... thanks!
 
I have 2 Redfields. A 3-9x40 and a 2-7. These are on a 30-06 and 270. Tried to keep these as light as possible and the Redfields are very light. They are great for what they are, a cheap Leupold. I have had no issues with either one. A great starter scope.
 
I just put a Redfield 4X12 on a LVSF in 221 Fireball last week and it seems to fit the bill so far. I was wanting to do the same thing as you and keep the scope on the small side as far as size because the rifles are compact. I think the optics are very nice for the money.

Which reticle did you get? Is the reticle fairly bold?
 
I have the exact same scope on my Rem 660 .243....you should see the reticle just fine. I would say put one up to your eye before you buy but if youre buying on-line, you should be good to go.

I have the same 2 scopes and like them both. I put them on AR uppers and chose them due to size and weight. duplex reticles are very easy to see in both.
 
I have the revolution 3x9 and I really like it!!!! The reticle is nice and bold and good glass. I actually prefer it over my Leoupold vx1 in 3x9, I can get on target a lot faster with the redfield.

I have the same 2 scopes, bought a 2-7x for my .243, too short, now it rides on a 10/22 and bought the longer 3-9x for the .243. I agree they are light and have a good view. They also track well and I highly recommend.
 
Alright then fellas, I think I'm sold! 1st chance I get I am going to order myself one up. Have not really heard any negative comments & best of all they are made right here in the good ol' USA. Hope it's a slam dunk!

I have one in the 4-12 with the accu range. Scope is well built and the reticle seems to work well. I've had the scope on one of my primary calling rifles and its seen a bunch of use. Think I've had it three years now. Anyway, that thing takes a fair amount of shock on the gun rack on my 4-wheeler running the ranch roads that I hunt. To date, POI has not shifted. In my experiece the bouncing around on an ATV is a pretty tough test on a lot of scopes, and this one has held up very well.
 
I just managed to pick up a Redfield Revolution 4-12x40 @ the Kansas City Cabelas. I got the chance to look through it in the store & was pleased with the optical clarity. For the price point I believe these are going to be hard to beat! Can't wait to get it mounted up on the LVSF in .17 Rem & give it a good test on the range and in the field. Now I just need to locate some Talley Lightweights.

Did I mention that I love the fact that this Redfield is made in Oregon by Leupold? Gotta love that!

I just picked up one of these 4-12 x 40 Redfields for my Rem 700 in 243.

The only thing I am a little put out with it over is the rough or course paint finish on it made it very difficult, more like a royal pain in the keester to turn it to line up the cross hairs in the Warne rings I use on all my rifles, while they were still very loose prior to tightening everything up.

Have not had that problem with any other scopes I put in Warne rings and I have had them on a number of rifles.

Good scope. I have one in 4-12 with the duplex. I like it.


The scope is more like assembled in USA. Neither Redfield or Leupold will affirm 100% made in the USA.

The "Revenge" line from Redfield is made in the Philippines. Most parts are made there as well I am told.

I think the Revolution is assembled in USA, but parts are from the Philippines. Same as the lower end of Leupold. Better than nothing and the price is right.

I will be mounting mine up in some Talleys. I'll let you know if I have the same issue.
 
I have a 4X12 40mm duplex mounted on a Mini-Mauser Mark X .223 with Warne Mounts I like it and it works well.
