Finally maybe some relief in The NFA world. Currently ATF is proposing 7 differing rule changes under the umbrella of Reduce Burden.
In other words all NFA items would be treated as if suppressors. Only requiring notification if the transport was greater than 365 day or if permanent move. 1140-AA73 puts explicate language referring to protection in overnight stays , dropping off, picking up passengers for the trip with a NFA items. It does have the simple requirement if the ammo and firearms are stored in a area within the vehicle readily accessible by occupants that either firearms or ammo must be locked container.
1140-AB00 would now allow one to include the spouse in the approval process, thus relieving the "Trust" requirement when the scenario is intended to simply include a spouse. Quite similar to simply filing a joint tax return.
1140-AA65 is pretty much what it says on it's title...
The documents and posting public comments can be achieved by visiting, simply type the number above to view the progress of when or if the propose ruling are in fact codeified into law.
e.g. typing 1140-AB00 into the search field and then hitting the search button will produce a hyper link to the rule. At which time a user can follow the progress. On the right of the screen there will be links to other actions such as posting comment or reviewing list comment. one can post without giving any PII

I do request everyone to comment. why ???
because on 1140-AA89 someone has already responded with:
"We should not be making it easier for anyone to transport weapons across state lines for any reason, whether work or leisure. Regardless of our 2A rights, states should maintain regulation of ALL guns, and the federal government should respects states' rights to do so. Why would the government want to make it easier for someone to transport a weapon that may have been used in a crime or intended to be used in a crime in another state? This goes against all common sense. Some states want their residents to be free of gun violence. Where I live, someone crossed into our state with a weapon to commit a mass act of violence. We don't want your guns here."
Yes I pulled that from the Federal Register, if there is one then there is more just like it.
If our goal is actual freedom then maybe maybe we should respond in support, not attack silly rhetoric or attacks on if we feel if the existing laws is a infringement.
Rather a simple hey I support this proposed rule and here is why as a law abiding citizen..... quit complaining about your voice not being heard when you don't voice it. just do it respectfully to add weight to your voice.
amazingly thus far only 128 comment either in support or opposition to the rule proposal..... (closing date Aug 6 2026)
AA1040-AA74 is a final Rule and goes into effect June 5th 2026, so that means that no more triplicate filing for plastic explosive importation.... that one only affects those whom deal with that type of DD. Which is not most of us.
