I am just getting started reloading for .30-06 and .243 and was wondering what powder would work best to use in both rounds. I have found that a lot of guys use the IMR4350 for both. Is that a good universal powder? and what charges work best for each round?

Imr 4064 has always been a go to powder for a 243 that I could not get to group.
It also works in my 25-06 and should work with the 30-06

H4895 was developed for the 30-06 so it will work well and I use it for light and heavy bullets in my .243 with sub moa results.

Thanks for the input! I'm gonna go with the IMR4350 when i get get a couple kegs of it...can't find it anywhere right now. on to bullets... any suggestions for 100g .243? hornady? nosler? and for the 06...165s in hornady of nosler? I'm looking to put together a good load with the .243 for deer and the 06 for elk

I've loaded for several 30-06 using 4064 and 150 grain bullets. I haave always been very pleased witht the accuracy.

Currently getting ready to work up loads for my 243 but not sure where to start.

Its what I use in both along w/Varget.
54g, h414, 165g bullet will take an Elk w/ease & all other NA game.
I use a 125g bullet for antelope/deer out here in the 30-06.
80-85g bullet in the .243 for all medium game.

30-06 I use 180gr Partition for elk and 243 95gr Parttion. Nosler making 90gr AB and I'm going to try that in the 243. I've had pretty good luck with IMR-4350 and H-4350 in both rifles.
